It's a workbook that I keep for English. but the teacher said we need to protect it. Regular fabric covers don't work. I'd rather not go out and spend money on expensive covering materials, but if I must... What can I use to protect it?

hmmmm...... what I normally do is wrap it in newspaper. (NOT KIDDING!) but you know, not the pages, just the covers. once I have done that I get tape, either masking tape or duct tape, and cut long strips the length of the book. you then cover the whole outside of the book (ONLY ON THE NEWSPAPER!!!) with the tape. I used red duct tape the last time. then you can use a pen, or a sharpie to decorate the outside. if you use a newspaper, you can find a picture you like, and put that on the outside and don't put tape on the picture. or if you like an article. it's just a really cheap way that looks great. they have different colored duct tape out now. lime green, neon pink, red. etc etc. so, have fun. you should only have to spend like, 5 bucks, and you'll have lots of tape left over for next time!

Brown paper bag (like grocery bag paper) is great for covering soft-cover workbooks. It's pretty durable and leaves you room to doodle or draw your own artwork.
Bet your Mom remembers how to do it.
