Of Atheist, What would it take for us to believe in God.
I guess since I once did believe in a God, that question seem difficult. Short of the God/Godess saying here I am. Of course then my sanity would come into question.

So my question would be what would it take to convince the Religious that there is no God. It seems rather silly to show an empty hand and say "see I told you nothing." Yet that is pretty much the evidence. With every new discovery we say "well no God here".( of course the faithful see affirmation) With every passing year no return of the "promised one" At what point to you reconsider? I have seen posts saying end of the world 2011. when I was a kid they said 1999. I know I infer more of a Christian religion when I speak. But only because they are the most outspoken and the ones with whom I am most familier.
Is there anything to deter you from your faith? Most likely not.

PROOF! I thought I just explained the complexity of that. We show you a round planet. you say how wonderful is God. We show you the vast universe. you say how wonderful is God. We show you an atom. you say how wonderful is God.

We have shown you the vasts amounts of people who are left out of your Gods plan. and you say how wonderful is God.

I don't get it.

as always, my point was lost to some. I don't care when the world ends. That point was, by Christain bible belief it should have happen already. Many keep moving the timeline so they can protect the faith.

Perhaps religious people do not realize that in reality they, too are Atheists.

Atheism is a logical conclusion – not a Faith. Every single human being must use logical reasoning to make any rational decision or reach a valid conclusion in life.

There is only one question where people have the option of answering with Faith or with Reason. The question is: “Where does the universe come from?”

Atheists, who are very intellectually honest, will choose to answer with scientific hypotheses or admit their ignorance and simply say that they do not know, but that their lack of knowledge does not logically grant them the liberty to invent an origin to please themselves, and even less logically, to invent the existence of an originator.

However, from this FIRST PREMISE (Faith or Reason) people derive a long chain of reasoning either mystical or logical. In practice, I am certain of this, Faith is applied exclusively to answer the First Premise. Once religious people are satisfied with accepting that God created the universe, from that point on they switch from Faith to Reason, and in every single practical application of their lives, they, like Atheists, apply Reason for the solution of any further question or problem. Like Atheists, they do not cross a busy road with their eyes closed, confident that the Guardian of the Universe will protect them; like Atheists, they do not get a job by praying; like Atheists, they do not expect to find their supper on the table when they return home, divinely prepared and served. I can’t think of anything that religious people accomplish that doesn’t require the same logical thinking, the same effort that Atheists must put in for accomplishing their goals.

Faith is a lovely sentiment that comforts and adds personal meaning to events. It is as pleasing to our minds as listening to our favorite music. Our true spirituality, in practice, is our logical reasoning, the faculty which makes us different from the animals. It is with logical reasoning that we accomplish anything valuable, whether we choose to credit a divine entity or not. That’s why, in practice, everyone is really an Atheist, whether he knows it or not.

Sorry to tell you this child but more scientific evidence supports creation than evolution. But since you obviously don't believe in creation, lets analyze your beloved evolution.
Can you answer these questions o' ye of such great genius?

What happened before the Big Bang? What caused singularity of the Big Bang to occur? If you say two parallel universes collided to cause singularity (neglecting proof of the parallel universe theory). You are defying mathematical
axioms. By Definition: Two parallel lines or planes have no
point of intersection.
Where has macroevolution ever been observed? What’s the
mechanism for getting new complexity, such as new vital
organs? If any of the thousands of vital organs evolved, how
could the organism live before getting the vital organ?
(Without a vital organ, the organism is dead—by definition.)
If a reptile’s leg evolved into a bird’s wing, wouldn’t it
become a bad leg long before it became a good wing? How could metamorphosis evolve?
How could organs as complex as the eye, ear, or brain of even a tiny bird ever come about by chance or natural processes?
How could a bacterial motor evolve? How could such motors work until all components evolved completely and were precisely in place?
How could the first living cell begin? That’s a greater
miracle than for bacteria to evolve into man. How could that
first cell reproduce? Just before life appeared, did the
atmosphere have oxygen or did it not have oxygen? Whichever choice you make creates a terrible problem for evolution. Both must come into existence at about the same time.
Please point to a strictly natural process that creates
information. What evidence is there that information, such as
that in DNA, could ever assemble itself? What about the 4,000 books’ worth of coded information that are in a tiny part of each of your 100 trillion cells? If astronomers received an intelligent signal from some distant galaxy, most people would conclude that it came from an intelligent source. Why then doesn’t the vast information sequence in the DNA molecule of just a bacterium also imply an intelligent source?
Which came first, DNA or the proteins needed by DNA, which can only be produced by DNA?

Please don't say that just because we can't answer these questions now doesn't mean we can't one day answer them. I can say what if they are never answered? It's just like you saying what if science one day proves God doesn't exist? I can counter that with what if science one day proves He does in fact exist? If if was a skiff we'd all have a ride. The problem is that most Atheists are so incredibly self-centered they cannot imagine something greater than themselves, hence they say there is no God. If you want some seminars and other materials that address the gaping holes in your beloved religion of evolution try:
http:// www.creationministries.org/ http://www.creationscience.com/
goolge Perry Marshall, Dr. Walt Brown, Dr. Hugh Ross. These people are SCIENTISTS. Dr. Brown teaches at MIT there are many more creation scientists out there. These people have PhD's. Sorry your stereotypical little old lady with a bible in her hand doesn't hold for todays creationists. We are scientists, engineers, M.D.s etc.

Prove without a doubt that there is no life after death.
Prove that there is no infinity, no forever. I'll accept a mathematical proof.
Create something from nothing. Wait. That might also suggest that the concept of a god as creator might be right.
Explain how so many different types of people across the world, genius and imbecilic, great and small, for so many generation could be so blind and ignorant as to continue to believe in a lie.
Maybe just a thorough explanation of why you decided not to believe in God would be enough if you provide your true motivation for doing so. Also, please provide what your definition of God is. That alone might me the reason for misunderstanding.

Thanks for asking.

If you could show me a fully operational, fully lubricated, fueled, and running Harley Davidson motorcycle that had been assembled by a tornado whipping through a west Texas junkyard...then I'd believe there is no God.

But the chances of THE ABOVE happening are a billion times better than an entire universe forming and being sustained as the result of some huge cosmic accident....and you know it.

Show me that Harley...and I'm on your team!

You're right there is nothing to deter my faith. However, man has NO idea when the world will end. I do not know where people come up with dates that Jesus will return, when it's clearly stated that only God knows when.
Not one will defer my faith in God, because, He is in my life. Proof- maybe not man's idea of proof. But the fact that I didn't have God in life and now I do, the difference he has made in my life, how could I question there isn't a God.

The simple answer to both questions is faith. For an atheist to believe in God, he or she would have to consciously decide to put his or her faith in God. For a Christian (or other religious person) to believe there is no God (whatever god that might be), he or she would have to consciously choose to put his or her faith in something other than that God.

At what point would I reconsider...is there anything that would deter me from my faith...nothing that I can imagine. If God exists, then what on this earth could disprove his existence? No experiment designed by humans could possibly hope to accurately observe, measure, or control the influence of God and thus, the the existence of God isn't a testable theory/hypothesis...it can't be falsified.

Only my own death could disprove my beliefs and if I'm dead, how could I possibly change my mind?

Strong desire. Pure love for Krishna is eternally established in the hearts of the living entities. It is not something to be gained from another source. When the heart is purified by hearing and chanting, this love naturally awakens.
By manipulating a fire-generating stick, great saints and sages can bring forth the fire lying dormant within wood. In the same way, those expert in understanding the Absolute Truth try to see God in everything—even in their own bodies. Yet God remains concealed. God is not to be understood by indirect processes involving mental or physical activities. God manifest Himself only when He sees that a person is wholeheartedly engaged in searching for Him, then He reveal Himself.

It is impossible to prove that God (as Aquinas said, that being which is the greatest thing of which we can conceive, and the first mover of all events) does not exist. To do this, you must have perfect and complete knowledge of the entire universe. This would by definition make you God. Therefore, such proof is impossible.

You will find it very very difficult to convince anybody to be an atheist. Even the professing atheists don't live as if they believe it.

In the beginning, having faith was going out on a limb. In the end, the limb became the solid ground and the solid ground became the limb. So the answer for me would be, most definitely not. As truth is seen in demonstration, in healing, and understanding, then there is no conceivable way of saying to truth, i know you not, and turning back to a purely materialistic basis of thought.
But to human logic, the logic is "sound and good." I would never tell someone, "you are wrong," but if they asked for help i would explain a few things.

Reborn,
I would never ask of an Agnostic or an Atheist "What it would take for you to believe in God?" I assume that if when you or any other decides that there is enough evidence that you would do so. I would gladly study with anyone who is interested but I would not push for you or anyone else to change their beliefs based on my beliefs. You are correct in assuming (also) that there is very little that you could do to deter me from my belief in GOD at this time. Have a wonderful evening.
Thanks,
Eds
