I mean, I see where they're coming from, but there is much historical and scientific evidence that supports the Bible. It's almost as if you say "I have $100000 in my pocket." They say "NO WAY you're lying!" You take it out and show it to them, and they say "Hmmmm.... there's no way that money's real, it must be fake." That is how ignorant these Atheists are....

1. I go to public school and I'm at the top of my class, and I'm surrounded by idiots. My parents are unactive Christians.

2. Well I'm not an expert on all this evidence, but there is no mathematical formula or systematic way to prove God. There is just a lot of small evidence that really brings out the possibility that the Bible is true. For example, carriages were found in the Red Sea. Why else would they be there if Exodus wasn't true?

3. Many Atheists who attack the Bible and critically look at it eventually become Christians because of what they find.

Because teens have to be unique! So this is a way for them to try and say "hey look at me I'm different" even though there are a bunch of other kids doing the same thing. It makes no sense but its just a way for them to get attention.

Not looking at the argument from an Athiest's point of view makes you even more ignorant than the "ignorant Athiests" you so despise. Of course I have to agree with everyone else here with the "historical and scientific evidence" you claim, it did make me chuckle I have to admit.

I'd say teens today are more aware of the world around them and the different possibilities available than the teens of 20 years ago or so. Once again I have to agree with the "better education" argument, hopefully this is a sign of kids becoming more intelligent....one can hope :)

Could you provide some links or book titles which discuss this "historical and scientific evidence"? Aside from that there is plenty of scientific and historical evidence to refute the bible as well (like dinosuar fossils and the fact that the Earth is more than 5,000 years old.) And don't forget the numerous contradictions within the bible itself. I'm not athiest but I can understand why many would choose atheism.

While I wouldn't see it as widespread, I think a critical factor in teens turning to atheism is the abysmal quality of religious education. As children become teens, god (or gods) cannot simply be explained like a big, pink pixie in the sky.

Speaking as a sometime Catechist, the concepts of deity must be explained to teens in more adult, intellectual terms. This is extremely difficult in religions with a poor record of spiritual inquiry.

If theology is proposed in a trite, overly-literal, rote-like formulas with no questioning or evaluation, you will not hold their interest. Their religious education should discuss the hard concepts, the controversial issues, and what other religions believe (in HONEST terms!)

$100000...ever hear of counterfeit money?

There is no evidence outside of the Bible. None. That's why belief is called faith, not knowledge. These atheist teens are not ignorant, they are simply exercising their critical thinking skills.

In response to some of the other answers, I was a teen atheist. Just as I was a child atheist and am now adult atheist. I didn't learn about evolution in school. I wasn't rebelling against my parents' faith, nor was I expressing angst. It was my own rational thinking and questions that led to my total disbelief in all of the god myths, not just Christianity.

I don't know of a single atheist that ever converted to Christianity after "attacking" the Bible, and I know a lot of atheists/agnostics that have read and studied the Bible (I being one of them). I do know many Christians though that have de-converted from Christianity and became atheist/agnostic after reading the Bible and studying Christianity though. All of those details you added were totally false and completely fabricated. Try posting some real links and giving some real and supported evidence instead of the bullcrap you are trying to sell us now.

Teens do not like what they see as phony. Even if the God story was true, the 80 percent of the world that claim belief are not living it. If the majority really believed in the Message , the world would be a peaceful and happy place.

You are a complete, total, without any doubt, moron. Atheists would LOVE to see a god. we might be happier. There is no scientific evidence supporting ANY god, and this is becoming more and more proven every day. If the teen saw the money, he would believe you. I am an atheist teen, and I know that if any scientific evidence that WAS unbiased and true to support god, that I would certainly would believe in him.

It's cool and fashionable to be atheist. It's politically correct. The lockstep conformity of atheism appeals to the herd instinct in some people, just as religion does for others..

It's perfectly honest for people to say they don't believe in god because they don't accept the evidence. It's quite another thing to claim that god doesn't exist. Non-existence of any entity is impossible to prove. To believe something that cannot be proven is an act of faith. Thus, atheism is by definition a faith. Why do you think they hang out in the religion forum?

Here's how ignorant you are: THERE IS NO PROOF OF YOUR GOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! NOT HISTORICAL OR SCIENTIFIC! I think that more and more teens and others are becoming atheist is because they refuse to be brainwashed into believing in an imaginary friend in the sky that picks and chooses which things he decides to help with. They have a critical mind of their own and intend to use it.

Shock value and another opportunity to distance themselves from their parents. They like to try to show adults how much smarter they are, but they're really all the same. I remember announcing to my family one night that I no longer believed in God when I was about 15. They, of course, quite distressed and I felt pleased that 1) I had shocked them and 2) made a "grown up" decision at a time when everyone still treated me like I was a kid. Well, long story short, that didn't last too long -- a few years maybe -- just long enough for me to get my butt kicked by life and have to do a little rethinking. I became a born-again Christian probably 12 years later and I've been one ever since.
