In the nuclear age, the only true enemy is war itself... A mere 100 megatons of detonations, 1% of the world's nucear arsenals, would be enough to set off global impact winter.

In the first 30 minutes of a nuclear exchange (remember, we're talking 'all out war'), 1.5 billion would be vaporised...mostly in the US, Russia, Europe, China and Japan. Another 1 billion would die soon after from radiation poisoning. The northern hemisphere will be plunged into prolonged agony and barbarity.

The nuclear winter would eventually spread to the southern hemisphere and at least two years or more of an epoch of cold would engulf the planet. Plant life would die, followed shortly thereafter by animal life. Those that survive will be in deep silos, isolated canyons or isolated south pacific islands away from the tradewinds...assuming they all had sustainable supply of uncontaminated water and provisions....

Well since three of the countries you listed are on the security council and it only takes one permanent member to veto any UN action. I would say that the UN would be no help to anyone.
e fn w, I have no idea where you get your fantasy since Russia detonated a 50 megaton thermonuclear weapon in a test and as far as I have been able to research there was no temperature drop. In addition I recommend that you read Clausewitz. Because dependent on the political objective "all out war" does not necessarily mean nuclear.

Hon, in an all out war with the nuclear proliferation we now have, no one would win.

Mormonboy, I hate to burst your bubble, but we never were in war in Vietnam, it always only remained an armed conflict, so we never did lose a war!

If we got rid of the American haters (Liberal democrats) no one could win a war against America. The United Nations is a corrupt joke!
