crt monitors is good for pc gaming such as halo 1 and 2.i bought a LG 19'' lcd TFT monitor with a 2ms response time and took it back bc its not really good for pc gaming.this is the 2nd lcd monitor i bought.bc when i play halo on lcd monitor.when i move around left,right,up,and down.i see ghosting and blurryness. it's really bugging me.so i took it back to best buy and im sticking with crt monitors.main thing is if my 17''crt monitor goes out.can it be fixed or a new part?bc i dont want to end up buying a lcd monitor.some ppl say that they dont see no ghosting and blurryness during gameplay.but i see it and dont like it.i think every lcd monitors will have ghosting and blurryness.i even went to settings on my video card and lcd monitor.still the same.i like the crt flat panal monitor and hate to see it go out soon.oh crt monitors is also good for shooting games such as area 51 arcade game.wont work on lcd monitors.so ill buy a lightgun for my pc.help me out guys.i appreciated.thanks.

My experience is that after about seven years or so, CRT monitors start showing signs of age, getting dim, that sort of thing. These were business grade monitors, not the el-cheapo monitors that are thrown in with cheap computers these days.

17" CRT monitors are not considered to be economically repairable, since there resale value is nil. If price is no object, you could have someone salvage any part you needed.

It would be more practical to buy/haul away a good quality monitor from someone who is "upgrading, and put it in storage. For best results, power the monitor up every few months. This will extend the life of the capacitors in the monitor. Store at reasonable temperature and humidity levels.

At the speed that flat panel technology is improving, it's not likely you will need more than one backup monitor.
