Should people live their lives soley based on what makes them feel good, irregardless of how it may affect others? What should take precedent, your self gratification or the benefit of your fellow man.

All righty know.

I have a joke for you "Atheist Perspective". Hope you have a sense of humor or humour.

A couple from Texas and a couple from the east coast
were seated side by side on an airplane.

the girl from Texas , being friendly and all, said, "So,
where ya'll from?"

The east coast girl said,

"From a place where they know better than to use a
preposition at the end of a sentence."

The girl from Texas sat quietly for a few moments
and then replied:

"So, where ya'll from, *****?" .
_________

Thank you once again for the your correction.

Dear dorothy m,

i think this is a question that evey person has to answer for themselves and is reflective of an individual's values and definition of what is good and bad.

First there are ways where you can do both. For example i really am gratified by serving other people. My church goes down to Tijuana and we donate clothes and play with kids, paint houses, do medical clinics, etc. and i think it is both beneficial but gratifying to be a blessing to people.

Many vices (like rape, some forms of murder, taking drugs etc.) are based on the idea of people doing whatever they think is right. Because we don't live isolated from one another- when we only do the things that make us feel good -- irregardless of others- chances are good that someone else can be hurt (physically, emotionally, etc.)

Also i think even if a person chose to live like that- selfishily, irresponsibly, even that requires a measure of maturity. Imagine if kids got to do whatever they wanted- don't feel like doing homework, etc. it could be to their own detriment.

It also doesn't mean that we never do things that make us feel good: watch tv, eat ice cream, etc. (whatever it is)... but we do have to consider other people-- esp. because we don't live on the planet by ourselves. And in most cases we have that responsibility (esp. if you're a father, mother, sybling, friend, neighbor, etc.)

Hope that helps. Kindly,

Nickster

Hopefully you can do both at the same time. Isn't that the centerpiece of capitalism?

The purpose of life is to find a niche were you can practise your "passion." And in so doing, provide for your family and provide you with the meaning in life.

P.S. There is no such word as "irregardless", and your use of the word "your" should be the conjunction "you're" in the sentence, "You're right."

Well in the end both are about you: one is referring to your conscience and one isn't. If you really don't care about others then don't make the effort. If you do than ignoring others won't actually make you happy anyway.

Neither, what should take precedent is faith, believing what God says whether or not it makes you feel good.
