I am looking to buy a 40" HD TV
I can't make up my mind whether to go for the
Samsung TV
LN-T4061F
LN-T4065F
or
Sony
KDL-40V3000
KDL-40W3000
What I have noticed is .
There is a 300$ difference in price .. and a lot of other techie information specific to each tv.
Can someone shed some light into this?
Are there any other websites that I can use to make a more realistic comparison?

All things said are true. You will pay more just for its name if you buy Sony. Nevertheless, Sony is one of the companies focusing on just lcd displays, and they have managed to imrove in this field. They are against plasma displays. My suggestion to you is that first of all, compare the technical properties of the tv's and then compare the brands, do some research about them in forums.

Like others have posted, you pay extra for those four little letters on the front of sony products.
The Samsungs have higher contrast ratios.
Thats where you get color depth and brightness.
If the store you're shopping in has a dedicated HD loop, watch the entire loop on both T.V.s your considering.
There should be many different types of programming to demonstrate how the T.V. will display them.
Watch for the colors and small things that are really big things to consider.
How many stars are in the sky and how bright are they. Things like that.
More HDMI inputs are good too.

They're really about equal in overall quality. With Sony, you are in fact paying a little extra for that Sony name. I have a 46" Samsung LCD that I love. I looked at some Sonys and they were nice, but they weren't nice enough to justify the price difference.

When we bought our Sony, the salesman told us that sanyo was a better television, but Sony has the name brand recognition. we went for the Sony because the size that we wanted was sold out in the sanyo. I love the television, it looks great from any angle and the color is spectacular. make sure you get a hi-def receiver. Enjoy!
