Without faith, it is impossible to please God.
Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, it is the evidence
of things not seen
Read Hebrews 11, it breaks down faith for you.

No. The reason is that belief and faith are really two different things. Although they are often used as synonyms. Belief is simply any idea or concept you are willing to act upon. If you are unwilling to act upon the idea that is disbelief.
The way the human mind works it is always looking for something to believe. That however does not involve faith. Read Heb. 11:6, without the first sentence. That sentence goes better with Verse 5 anyway. Verse 6 is belief. The real definition of faith is Heb. 11:1.
Let me put it this way. If you think or believe it is possible to walk on water you might go down to the lake and try it. That is what belief is for -- to put you in the right position. Belief however will not walk on water for belief is a thought. Faith is not a product of the mind but of the spirit; a human ability which brings the things we hope for into reality. Faith and only faith will walk it.
Go to a bus stop and sit on the bench to await the arrival of the bus --- that demands belief. Go to a corner where there is no bus stop and a bus shows up; that is faith.
You can seek God with belief as in Heb. 6; but you cannot really have faith in relation to God until he speaks to you. Look at all the examples in Heb. 11. God can add to our faith as a gift. And while faith is a human ability; when it comes to Christian faith there must be a contact from God for faith to respond.
People who disbelieve in God will make other things of primary importance in their lives; things they believe in. These things become their God(s). We have no choice but to believe in something; but this is not faith.
So the answer to your queston is No; just takes disbelief.

We live by faith - experience what we believe (mostly subconsciously imprinted) to be true. Disbelief in God is more likely an aversion to the typical "believer's" daddy-in-the-sky version of God/reality.
God/Reality is the multi-dimensional field we are embedded in that is responsive to consciousness. It is neutral and simply mirrors belief holographically - through our experiences. The ego is very robotic.

atheists don't spend time thinking about god or the lack thereof. there's no reason to have faith in disbelief because we've got better things to have faith in (such as hoping people will have more tolerance etc.)

No. Faith is the will to believe without evidence.
There is no evidence that supports the existence of any god.
When people like me do NOT believe in gods because there is no evidence to support that belief, it is not called faith. It is called being reasonable.

No, it is only required that I do not share your faith in God or Gods. that does not require faith at all.

Sigh...No. Why do people think this argument is logical, at all?
The definition of faith; is basically to believe something to be true with no evidence to suport it. Uh tell me if this sentance makes sense "I believe god does not exist, in spite of all the evidence supporting otherwise". It sure don't sound right to me.

A newspaper article in the London Times said:
"To believe that miracles cannot happen is as much an act of faith, as to believe they can happen."

No. It would more likely require non-faith.

Nope.
It requires the ability to rise above the fear of inevitable death and the ability to read and learn and base decisions on the available proof, facts and data.
I don't have "faith" there is no god, I also don't have proof there is one either.
