Try using a card reader for your memory card instead of the camera.

There's too many variables in your question to give you a definitive answer.

For example, it could be the cable. It could be the connectors on each end. It could be the connectors on the computer or on the camera. It might be a software/firmware setting that is buried deep in the menus.

A card reader will solve these issues and do it much more easily than trying to figure out why your camera doesn't work.

I have a 3.2 Mega pixel digital camera and I seem to have the same problem. But if I plug one of the usb cable in the camera and the other in the back of the pcu at the bottom of my computer it shows a message that a new device have been found. If nothing works then I switch the two usb cable and put the one that was in the camera into the back of the pcu and vice versa. Good luck

You need photo editing software.

Did the camera come with a program? It usually is inside the camera box and is in CD-Rom. Load that into your computer and follow the instructions.

You dont have a program? Not to worry. Turn on your computer, go to downloads.com and download irfanview. It is a small program and easy to use. You want easy, dont you?

So once you have irfanview, go to it and click on"open". It will ask you what to open. Turn on the camera (you have to turn it on) and click on "my computer". It will automatically find your camera memory. It will be a small learning curve but this is how you can finally download and watch your pictures.

Sometimes the pictures are so gigantic that you need to resize it to be remotely useable, Go to images on the top part of the program (Irfan) and click on resize/resample. Use the percentage resize, practice using 25%. Then you can see the picture and see what a wonderful photographer you were.
PS save the small picture and only send small pictures. Huge ones take so much space and memory when sent thru email.

Click on Start
Click on Computer
Select the file that shows your device
Highlight all your pictures
Right click and press "cut" or "copy"
Then go to the folder that says Pictures
Right click and press paste.
