How many Popes are there supposed to be following Pope John Paul? What exactly are the prophecies and where can I find them? And I only want the ones that are approved by the Church.

I'm talking about the end times. I heard that John Paul II was supposed to be the last Pope (a long time ago) and I also heard that their would be three others. I was told this meant the John Paul II would be the last true Pope. I just want to know what the prophecies really say and how to interperet them according to the Church.

No we aren't 'required' to believe in them but it would be wise to follow the reliable ones.

I know exactly who I'm talking too. Catholics who are aware of the apparitionists.

No I heard it was from prophecy not from Protestant literature (but that's a possibility)

There are no prophecies approved by the Catholic Church that predict how many Popes there will be before Jesus comes in glory.

There are the Prophecies of St. Malachi. The Catholic Church has not declared the Prophecies of St. Malachi as divinely inspired. Some modern scholars even think they are a forgery.

These silly stories are the result of fundamentalist Protestant biblical interpretations. There is nothing in Catholic teaching about the last Pope, other than the fact that the last Pope will be the one who is in office at the end of the world, and Jesus said no-one would know when that would be. Jesus said He would be with His Church until the end of time. History plainly reveals that the Catholic Church is His Church, the one He personally founded on the Apostles and the only one He ever approved. A united Christian Church preaching the fullness of truth cannot exist without Christ's authority ministered through the Pope, as Protestantism makes sadly obvious. Therefore, Christ's Church, with the Pope as its visible shepherd, will exist until the end of time. As for Catholics, trying to predict the end times through personal interpretations of private revelation is no more valid than trying to make such predictions from personal interpretation of Scripture. Both are bogus attempts to discover that which God Himself has said we are not to know.

I'm not sure what you're asking, but there will always be popes until Christ returns.
As for "approved" prophecies, there is really no such thing.
As for approved apparitions, those are what we call "private" revelations, and the faithful are not required to belive in them, unlike the Bible, which we call "public" revelation and we ARE required to believe in.
If you really want solid answers, go to www catholic com and email them: They are the experts on all things Catholic.

EDIT: What you heard came from anti-Catholic literature. Those prophecies are NOT true.
