i'm a first year college student studying food and beverage management and for our first research we have to know about the history of restaurants.... a link to a page that can help me will greatly be appreciated :-)

That's just one. I googled for "history of restaurants" and found some other good articles. Also look up Escoffier, and gastronomy, or Gastronomique. (Hope I spelled that right, I can only say it, not spell it!)

Your first restaurants would have been cooked foods sold at the market in cities and towns and traveler's inns that served food that was probably cooked by the innkeeper's wife. There would have also been taverns which sold food to their patrons.
