it might be a sensory stimulator. You ever hear about that guy who trained his dogs to drool on command? He would ring a bell when it was time for his dogs to eat, and after a while the bell would mentally stimulate the dogs to start drooling. Maybe exicement does the same thing to your cat....
Or maybe he just gets excited when he's hungry...

Pleasure, I would assume....doesn't your mouth "water" when you smell something really good? I suppose it is similar for cats, lol...my kitten drools when you rub her belly..I really wouldn't be all that concerned.

maybe its because he can't wait and it doesn't think about not drooling when he is excited and how excited does he get.

My mom's cat does that when he is nervous, like at the vet. It is awfully funny.
