Ativan is not for depression. It's an anti-anxiety medication often used for panic attacks.
Consult your doctor. You need an anti-depressant you can take every day of the year like Wellbutrin 300 mg. That's what I take. That way you won't have to get out of control with every change of season.

Zoloft is good for maybe a year, to help you through it. It has less side effects than Ativan, but it takes about a month to start feeling the good effects of Zoloft is the down side. Ask your doctor? For one thing, Ativan is mainly for nervousness and anxiety and doesn't really touch on depression. Also, I recommend counseling to find what is the root of your depression. Medicine helps, but it doesn't help in the long term like counseling.

consider using spell-check .....PLEASE!
Depression medications usually work on a time delay between the time you take it and the time you FEEL IT WORKING. Like, maybe 1to3 weeks of a delay.
If you are having such extreme mood swings and behaviors, you would be a good candidate for taking an antidepressant EVERY day of the year. That way, you wouldn't be feeling such strong symptoms unnecessarily.
(sorry, I am not familiar with ativan, as to wether it is a "Mood-Stabilizer" or an "Anti-depressant". There is a difference.)

If the medications that you are taking, are not beneficial. It is time for a change and I mean NOW!!! Try the "natural," alternatives prescribed by Dr. Cass Ingram and Dr. Mehmet Oz. They know their business. I want for you to do well. I don't like the pharmaceutical medicine. It isn't doing you much good either. Remember this, What shall we then say to these things? If GOD be for us, who can be against us? - Romans 8:31. The Lord daily loadeth us with BENEFITS, even the God of our salvation. Selah. - Psalm 68:19. Peace, Love and God Bless.

I have a lot of the same symptoms you have (basically all the same)...and I take Lamictal and Effexor during the day, and Lithium at night. It's a perfect mix for me.

Talk to your doctor. People may give bad medical advice on the computer. A doctor will listen and understand what you need.
