Yes. I am in the same city where the largest private college in the state teaches that dinosaur bones are 3,000 years old (Liberty University, founded by Falwell)
There is a certain point where I can't take the sheer numbers of stupid people in large groups, playing the religion and family values card in government, when all they want is to see our government teach everyone about their god.
Aside from other cities not in the bible belt, I am considering a move to Europe, specifically London, where religion is a private issue and not a public mandate.
Ok, that's my rant for the day. :-)

You're right. Being born in a country does not mean you have to automatically be loyal to it. And the way in which they are indoctrinating the children in that video, and consequently bringing out their loyalty is just too sad. Those kids can't just be kids.

This is the "Save America" fundie movie. This is the attempt by fundalists to "get back to the good ol' days" when America was "religious" and great. As a Christian myself, I think there was no era or period in American history that was "religious" or so great. In the 1930s alcohol & murder were rampant (Al Capone), drugs ( Coca-Cola was made with cocaine) - to name some of the "religious"days of the past - and what about those days of black slavery -condoned by many of the churches in the good ol' South ? Sorry guys and gals - "religion" and bringing back the good ol' days will not make America great. Only Jesus Christ will do that at His return to this earth in the future - not us humans !!!

Pluralism and inclusion are really difficult to negotiate, and it means that there will always be elements within the culture that individuals, like yourself, find hard to take. The liberalism of the secular democracy necessitates difference-- what is the alternative? There were many social and political experiments in the 20th century that dabbled in ideological monism. Fear of difference, be it from the politics of the left or the right, engenders totalitarianism. The tolerance of the folks from "Jesus camp" fulfills the vision of a modern, liberal democracy, and affords you your own freedom to dissent from the mainstream of the culture if you so choose-- if this is too much-- there are many totalitarian regimes in existence-- but none would be highly recommended.

Why should it ? This is the first time I ever heard of it . It's such a tiny part of the United States, as to be nothing .
By your yardstick , there is no place on this stupid earth for you . If you find little blemishes in America , but not in other countries - - - you're not looking for them .
If you're not loyal to the country you live in , I'd suggest your finding one that's better. I'm sure you won't be missed .

>Doesn't "Jesus Camp" just make you want to leave the United States?
I'm already in Canada, and I don't particularly intend to move to the United States.
>I don't see why being born in a country should mean you have to automatically be loyal to it and love it, right?
Exactly.

If it were teaching atheism then people wouldn't say anything about it. The United States promotes freedom of religion. So you don't have to like it, and you don't have to be loyal. But there are countries that require you to be loyal, or lose your life over it. I myself prefer freedom.

No, I want "Jesus Camp" to leave the United States so we can be a free, secular nation again.
Ask James Madison. And Thomas Jefferson.

I, too, do not live in the US. But that video reinforces my stereotypical belief that a large portion of the US is the "Jesus version" of Islamic Middle East.

They want you to leave so they can have the whole county with all of it's military power for their own doctrine. Then they will come after you wherever you live, because it's probably too liberal to their liking. You must "fight" them at home imho.
