About this question, my husband had given it to me after I had called my doctor. I was hospitalized on Monday with severe migraines caused by the stress of my father dying. They were so bad to the point that I was vomiting. I kept having headaches until last night. My back was also in a great deal of pain from having wrenched it when I moved a couch, which my friends know about. The accident they were talking about when the couch fell on me down the stairs. I was not using these as a way of getting high or anything else so foolish. It was ok'd by a doctor. But I was such a wreck last night after the funeral and in so much pain in my head and in my back that nothing else could be done.

As for those who did not know, I understand they did not know about the accident and the physical pain.

As for people who do take drugs without having physical pain, are they using it as a crutch? Do they believe in God or not? Can they increase their spirituality and overcome it?

Um well PM, I personally don't see anything at all wrong with taking painkillers for either physical pain AND/OR emotional pain. Its all fine to me, pain is pain and if some sort of med helps dull or kill it, I believe it should be taken. I do not see it as a crutch, I see it as essential for survival.

I'm very sorry for your loss. Both my parents already passed away and I know how hard it is. As time goes by, we get use to the idea that they are not with us any longer but the pain of losing them never goes away. My deepest sympathies to you and your family.

As for your migraines, I'm also sorry, I've had migraines since I was a child, many people think that migraine headaches are "just a strong headache", God forbid they ever experience one. I hate those strong pain killers, so I try my best not to need them. As soon as I feel the least symptom of a headache, I take Excedrin Migraine, lay down, and stay as still as I can.

The next time something needs to be moved, for God's sake, let men do that, that's what they are for..............LOL

Hope you feel better soon!

May Allah grant sabr and contentment in your heart and the hearts of your family.

Yes it is used as a crutch by many...they have some how lost their way due to emotional trauma or reasons unknown. We must not judge as we do not know what is in the heart of such a person, and Yes of course they can overcome this with encouragement and increasing spirituality.

I used to suffer from migraine headaches and I say this to you and another poster who says she suffers from them.

Years ago, I went on a fruit diet in a quest to lose weight
( I was overweight at the time). I ate nothing but fruits for 1 month and excercised. To my surprise as a side effect, I stopped suffering from migraines.

Alhamdullila, I do not suffer from migraines any more.
Hope this helps someone else. Note the diet is tough at first, but one gets used to it. If one gets hungry, they are only allowed fruit (preferably organic)

Try something for me - the next time you experience severe headache pain - say to the pain "I rebuke you in the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth." Never let pain get a stronghold on your body. The Word of the Lord is powerful - use it. }}}

Sweetie, I hope you didn't think I was attacking you.
I was sincerely and genuinely worried that you were in danger. I had spoken to a medical proffessional who said that that combination of drugs was dangerous and not advisable.
From your posts last night, it seemed you were feeling very incoherent and out of it.
Having seen what drug interactions can do, I was very, very worried about you.
I hope I didn't offend you, and I sincerely appologise if I did.

Good question. Wouldn't they need to go into rehab and a 12 step program. The number one thing they have to do is acknowledge a power greater than themselves. So, I don't think it is really possible.
