I just tried putting contact lenses in today, got them both in in around 25 minutes. But my eyes feel red/irritated, like i've been staring at the computer screen all day. Is this normal, and when should it stop/get used to it?

Yes, it takes a while for your eyes to have a foreign object in them.. There is just an adjustment period, after a few days the redness should settle down. If it doesn't, you should go back to your optician and tell him/her - they should be able to advise you on what is best to do. It could be that you have had a reaction to one of the materials the lenses are made up of, or it could be that the solution you are using is wrong for you. It could even be an eye infection. Make sure, that if it doesn't clear up, that you go and see your optician.

The redness should clear after about an hour. The feeling irritated will last a little longer. If they are hard or gas permeable lenses they will be uncomfortable until you get your wearing schedule built up to several hours. If they are soft lenses you shouldn't be irritated after that first hour unless you have them in inside out. You might also be allergic to you solutions. If it doesn't clear up after checking to make sure they are right side out call your doctor.

If they're soft lenses, they shouldn't irritate. You might not produce enough tears or you might have a sensitivity to the materials used to make the lenses. If this problem continues, you should try a different brand.
