Ok so have you ever noticed how like, people look like different animals and have personalities like them too? Like, I have this friend who looks like a fish with huge eyes that bug out and shes a competitive swimmer and then i have this other friend thats short, and has long hair thats straight and she's like skinny and has dark circles under her eyes and has a striaght body figure and she's sorta sneaky and has a squeaky voice and she reminds me of a ferret and then i have this other friend thats really pretty, nice, funny and playfull and looks like a golden retriever. and then i asked my mom what i look like and she said i look like a corgi and im like whoah because i have a really bubbly energetic personality and i do like, 5 different sports rite now! its creepy. what r ur thoughts on this? like maybe if we did evolve (i know we didnt) then maybe thats the animal we would've evolved from or whatever? Tell me what you think!

well, i'm a big fan of creativity, but that's not however evolution works. you cannot have different species co-evolve into the same species. here's a good rule of thumb that you should commit to memory:

all of the members of a true clade (whether you're talking about a small clade, such as the human species or some other species, or much larger clades, such as the entire class of mammals or the entire subphylum of vertebrates) must have an MRCA (most recent common ancestor) who must have also belonged to the same clade.

so, the most recent common ancestor of ALL humans must have been..... a human.

and the most recent common ancestor of ALL mammals must have been..... a mammal. -- you see how it works?

it would be incorrect to say that different humans each evolved from a different species of animal (or as so many people incorrectly think, that different types of birds each evolved from a different type of dinosaur) because then that would mean that our MRCA was some other sort of organism and that we just so happened to experience the exact same mutations and selective forces until our DNA started to become similar., and that's just absurdly improbable.

At least you are honest. I figure at least half the population has had the same thoughts.
Now get out of here you are too young.

Well, evolution doesn't work like that.

But your story reminds me of when owners of pets LOOK like their pets sometimes! It's so interesting.

Think about this Julia. The same God who made you and me also made every one of these animals. Why shouldn't His creation compliment each other?
