The Mayans and Nostradamus made reference to 2012. Most people do not think it will be the end of the world, but just some major event that will reshape mankind and our thinking. Who knows? Like the computer crashes in 2000, nothing. Be fun to keep an eye out for.

It is not a prediction of the end of the Earth - it is a transition into another epoch. We are, according to the Mayans, currently in a transition from 1987 to 2012/2013 sometime in December.

Well, Mayans don't necessarily believe that 2012 is the end of the world. It's the end of a stage, or phase. Who knows what will happen after 2012?

If the Mayans could predict the end of the earth in 2012, how come they couldnt or didnt predict the fact that they themselves died out?

They never predicted the end of the earth . They simply stopped computing time.
If someone asked you to count out loud , twelve hours per day. At some point you would say , That's enough , and stop . Would that number have some magical significance ?

This is a world without end. Jesus is returning to set up His Kingdom on earth forever.
Daniel 2:44
And in the days of these kings shall the God of heaven set up a kingdom, which shall never be destroyed: and the kingdom shall not be left to other people, but it shall break in pieces and consume all these kingdoms, and it shall stand for ever.
We are in this ten toed kingdom of iron and clay now. It just hasn't been broadcasted as yet, but the concrete is layed of rebar and cement. And it is stressing.

I think superstition sells these days. Nothing more.
If people are focused on the end of the world, how are they going to improve society now? What is the point?

I think there will be a great change spiritually in 2012
I dont think the world will end.
some think aliens will show themselves in this year.

What do you mean by the end of the earth? The Earth may vanish only if something blows it up. If you ask about the life on the earth, it may never vanish, it can only be transformed or mutate...
