There are many types of intestinal parasites that dogs can get. They can get worms, as well as cocidial and protozoal infections that can affect their health. The danger lies when puppies are infested and the possibility of you getting them.

You need to take a fecal specimen to your vet's office and have it check for the parasite's eggs. These can only be seen by a microscope. Very seldom do animals pass the worms themselves unless highly infested or sick.

There are different dewormers for different parasites. Pyrantal Pamoate will take care of roundworm infestations, but not hookworms, whip worms, or tapeworms or coccidial or protozoal infections. Your veterinarian will be able to prescribe a dewormer that is appropriate for the type of intestinal parasite your dog has.

There are many heartworm preventatives that will prevent intestinal parasites. Heartgard, Sentinal, Interceptor are oral heartworm preventative that also prevent intestinal parasites. Advantage Multi and Revolution are two topical heartworm/flea/intestinal parasite preventatives. You can get these from your vet's office.

Most of the time, animals get worms form ingesting fleas. However, if they eat another animals poop (that has worms) they may get it too. So if you suspect an animal has worms make sure you isolate it from the others! Also make sure you disinfect and bleach alot!

You can prevent them by buying heartworm medication at the vets office or online. Heart worm is basically the worst one... Also if you give flea treatment to them that can work too.

If you have worms, you could buy some at your local petsmart, petco, vet office ect. Make sure you give it in doses according to their weight! Also, clean up every poop thing and keep the other animals away from it until hes all better. Depending how long its had worms, they could grow REALLY nasty and long, so treat asap. Of course depending on which type it is. Typically, it takes a couple of days to get it out of their system!

I hope I helped! Good luck!

Puppies and kittens commonly get roundworms from the mother. Even if the mother was wormed and had a negative fecal prior to breeding, the roundworms can encyst in the muscle tissue and be released when exposed to the hormones of pregnancy. Then they are transmitted to the babies through the milk.
Tapeworms are usually from ingesting fleas. Animals can also get worms from eating animals outside, like mice and rabbits.
All you need to do is take a fecal sample to the vet and they will tell you what worms the pet has and give you a wormer to take care of it.
There are other parasites also, but tapes and rounds are the most common. Roundworms are usually spaghetti looking and tapes look like little rice pieces around the butt.

How long they are depends on the type of worm they are.

One would pick up most worms through ingesting the eggs. tapeworms they usually get through ingesting fleas that are infected with the larvae....

To prevent keep your pet flea free. Some say giving them good vitamins will keep them from getting other types.... For heart worms if they are outside a lot, you need to have them tested then give heart worm medication.

To get rid of worms depends on the type of worms they have. Round worms are the most common so a round worm med you can get at most stores that sell pet supplies will work. tapeworms you must get the med through the vet. And with heart worms you must threat through the vet and it's a long drawn out process.

If this substitute into tapeworms, that's impossible even on your different cats to get them from this cat. Tapes can in user-friendly terms be brought about by your cat digesting a flea that has the tapeworm eggs. they do no longer seem to be contagious. You provide one Droncit tab (get from Vet, or a information superhighway puppy agency) for a cat approximately 10 pounds and under. Over ten pounds = a million a million/2 pill. some Vets propose giving it returned in 3 weeks, yet it is up for grabs. in case you pick for to verify, then wait 3 weeks and supply yet another dose. while one cat has tapes, the others cats do no longer inevitably get them, till they have digested a flea with eggs. So, you are able to the two handle all your animals or wait till they tutor indicators. the two way, you would be ok. What you observed substitute right into a piece, no longer the certainly malicious application. you won't be able to get worms out of your cats, so do no longer problem.
