1) no. It means immigrants intergrating into their "new" society while embracing their language, foods and art. Can be seen in many US cities.
2) it should mean that all people are equal in the eyes of the law. Isn't this part of British Common Law?
3)Perhaps. Is there a law against that in the UK. Sorry this is my ignorance here.
4) NO!
5) Definitely not!
6) free exercise of religion- US constitution but not sure how it translates to the UK.
7) Here, free exercise ends at the violation of law.
8) in one of Heinleins novels, there is a statement of principle which may apply here: Do not easily give offense and do not be quick to take offense.
9) If they are not whining about the strange things they percieve in your culture, why do you take offense at the strange things you percieve in theirs? Beyond, of course, the illegal and inhumane.

Culture is a part of a country just like borders and laws are. When the culture gets assaulted, i.e. multiculturism, then the identity of the country begins to fade.
If one wishes to move, live, and become a citizen of another country then why would they wish to keep their original culture? That is not assimilation it is seperation.
In the UK a politician named Powell? gave many speeches about this subject in the 60s and 70s. He was labled a racist, however much of what he said has now transpired. The US, UK and the majority of Europe are suffering from the effects of multiculturism or reworded, political correctness.

My defination. They ability for different cultures to co-exist without stomping on the rights of others.
It doesn't include accepting EVERY aspect of anothers culture.
My favorite has always been the prime directive from Star Trek. There's respecting and then there's not. I remember when there was an episode where because of relegious reasons and culture...Warf wanted to go through a ritual which #1 was expected to go against his morals and beliefs and that of the prime directive. Picard gave a great statement. There's a line that is drawn between respecting and accomodating and when it crosses to infringing on others.
Hey if people come here for freedom....then you better know what they mean. Freedom isn't just what someone doesn't like. Freedom doesn't mean you can do whatever you want. Everybody wants to jump the gravy train for what they can GET.....problem is....when you get...you must give up. Last I remember planets were applying for membership to the federation. We didn't HAVE to take them.
Just like immigration or multi-curturalism.....we don't HAVE to accept it. If you don't or simply can't abide by the limits....don't join up. Don't come here. If freedom to perform female circumcism is more important to you than the benefits.....then go back to where you came from.
NO ONE IS STOPPING YOU. GO....please GO. Heck people give free plane rides to get people out that beleive that. You are not forbidden to do it......you just can't do it here. Perfection isn't one of the options.
I always heard there's a time and place for everything. You can't do that here. If that means more than being here.....the door won't smack you on the way out. Just go.
Same thing goes in the other direction. If I can't abide by that limit....then I shouldn't go there. It's a package deal. You don't get to pick the parts.

Multiculturalism is an ideology advocating that society should consist of, or at least allow and include, distinct cultural and religious groups, with equal status.
The Melting Pot Ideal (USA)
In the United States, continuous mass immigration had been a feature of economy and society since the first half of the 19th century. There was no fiction that the immigrants would return: immigration was seen as a permanent choice for a new country. The absorption of the stream of immigrants became, in itself, a prominent feature of the national mythos, along with the expansion westwards. The central metaphor is the idea of the Melting Pot - where all the immigrant cultures are mixed and amalgamated without state intervention. The Melting Pot implied that each individual immigrant, and each group of immigrants, assimilated into American society at their own pace, improving their income and social status on the way. It reflected and influenced official policy: although language courses were offered, they were rarely compulsory. As a result, several immigrant communities maintained a non-English language for generations. The nature of American national identity, with its emphasis on symbolic patriotism, allegiance, national values and a national mythos, facilitated the assimilation of immigrants. The Melting Pot attitude did not require a detailed knowledge of American history, acquisition of a complex cultural heritage, or English with an American accent. It allowed interest in the culture of the country of origin, and family ties with that country. In practice, the original culture disappeared within two generations. An Americanized (and often stereotypical) version of the original nation's cuisine, and its holidays, survived.
The Melting Pot concept has been criticized, as an idealized version of the assimilation process. One common criticism is that it apparently did not apply to English-speaking, US-born black people, who stayed at the bottom of the social ladder from the American Civil War on. Another criticism is that the Melting Pot model described the assimilation of immigrants from Europe, rather than the assimilation of ''any'' immigrant. The growth in the use of the Spanish language - the model implies it would decline - has led to calls for state-enforced language policy similar to those in Europe. More recently, some have argued that "the Melting Pot" leads to an erosion of groups individual heritage and have argued that the USA is better described as "a tossed salad", with each group intermingling with all, but maintaining their separate identity.
Note that the Melting Pot tradition co-exists with a belief in national unity, dating from the American founding fathers:
"Providence has been pleased to give this one connected country to one united people — a people descended from the same ancestors, speaking the same language, professing the same religion, attached to the same principles of government, very similar in their manners and customs... This country and this people seem to have been made for each other, and it appears as if it was the design of Providence, that an inheritance so proper and convenient for a band of brethren, united to each other by the strongest ties, should never be split into a number of unsocial, jealous, and alien sovereignties." -- John Jay, First American Supreme Court Chief Justice

Multiculturalism is retaining the culture of your homeland / family while integrating and incorporating the values, traditions, and culture of your new home. I am not sure about in the UK, but multiculturalism is not happening very often in the US. Particularly among illegals.

No its a cover up so that you dont see they are trying to wipe out any difference between anyone on the planet. There will be NO RACE, but one when they are done. They used to tell us would the world be a dull place if we were all the same. Some poeple wanted to make money becasue they are different, So the Leaders got together and figured out , if we blend them all together, we can save our money and control them all better.
