Dogs hate the smell of perfume and disinfectants. These should be used for avoidance purposes only, don"t spray it on them. Lysol might work. Animals respond differently to smells so just do some trial and error.

We have used jalapenos with success- rub them on what you don't want them to lick/bite.

Otherwise, most of that bitter spray for animals works really well (if for chewing/licking). Get one that is on the higher end of prices. I have tasted those (by accident) and the taste wouldn't come out for 10 minutes- If I was a dog, I would never touch that thing again. Worked well on wolves, cockatoos, camels, lemurs, and zebras (we used it at a zoo, lol)

Something acidic. So citrus should work or vinegar. My partner allowed Jasper to smell some red wine from the wine lid. He barked at it. Wine might be a bit too extravagant to use as a dog deterent, better uses for that!!

The bitter apple spray that you can buy at a pet store works pretty well ... plus, it's safe to spray on pretty much anything. Which is important if the dog licks at it! Good Luck!

Try ammonia. You can buy it very inexpensively at the grocery store in the cleaning aisle. Put some in a spray bottle and spray it where you want to deter the dog. You'll need to spray often and quite a bit...but it works.

They hate the smell of ammonia. It is very strong, but needs
replacing often as it dissipates pretty fast. I used it in a flower bed and put it on cotton balls to make it last longer. Keeps the dogs from peeing in my flower beds , or worse.
