I ate a habanero pepper last night and when I took my contacts out, my eyes began to burn really badly. It stopped and they don't burn this morning, but after washing my hands and even taking a shower, I still can't get the contacts in without my eyes burning INSANELY and them turning really red. Anybody help?

The spice on that pepper got on your hands, and will stay there for a while, no matter how many times you wash them! i'd give it a few days before you touch your eyes again, or your face, or your... down-belows... it can be VERY damaging to sensitive tissues!

Well, you've learned to wash your hands thoroughly before dealing with your eyes next time you're eating one of those peppers. You've irritated your eyes with the oil from the pepper, which is why they use the stuff in those Mace self-defense sprays.

Leave your contact lenses out for a day or so. Your eyes should clear up by tomorrow. If not, call the opthalmologist on Monday, but I doubt you'll have to.

Wow that happened to me twice.
I eate jalapeno and I even washed my hands before getting my contacts out of my eyes. So i touched my eye ball and it was burning insanely... The worst pain ever! After that I couldnt put it in my eyes ever again because it stil felt like a burning sensation.. so i had to buy new contacts .
Throw them away! dont try to put them in your eyes ..
Or at least live them in water for a week
