The pups should have been born around 29th August (63 days is the average gestation). If the breeder thinks this is normal, they aren't very experienced - steer clear!

I have checked the date against my whelping table which shows that pups should have been born on or around the 29th August. Usually mating takes place 2 or 3 times in order to be sure of success. There are really only for days over the bitches season where she is likely to fall pregnant - the 7th to the 11th day. If the 29th was the 7th day then the welping could be as late as the 2nd Sept. If they meant that that would be the day that they would release the pups, don't do it as they pups should not be removed from their mother until they're completely weaned and not rehomed until they're at least 7 weeks old. Some breeders even keep the pups til they're 12 weeks.
Something isn't adding up here and alarm bells are ringing in my head. I say give this one a miss and find another!

I would actually stay away from this breeder. I don't think they know what they are doing. They sound unorganized and can't even count how many days it takes for the puppies to be whelped.
If it were true the puppies are way overdue.

Maybe they meant they weren't ready to go to homes for another week?

Contact them (again if you have already) and ask as many questions as you can ie - hip scores of parents etc, write a list and if any of their answers set alarm bells ringing then walk away.

Remember a good REPUTABLE breeder will have a waiting list for puppies.

Don't trust dogs carry for 63 days sometimes a couple days early or a couple days late but tehy should have been born by now. most breeders will breed at least 2 days so to only give one date is also unusual.
