*Gay marriage is not supported by religion & as we all know in America we have only one religion
*Children can never succeed without a male and a female role model at home. That's why we as a society expressly forbid single parents to raise children.
*Legalizing gay marriage will open the door to all kinds of crazy behavior. People may even wish to marry their pets because a dog has legal standing and can sign a marriage contract.

Gay marriage killed the Dinosaurs Top 16 Reasons Why Gay Marriage is Wrong 16. Gay marriage will change the foundation of society; we could never adapt to new social norms. Just like we haven’t adapted to cars, the service-sector economy, or longer life spans. 15. There are plenty of straight families looking to adopt, and every unwanted child already has a loving family. This is why foster care does not exist. 14. Conservatives know best how to create strong families. That is why it is not true that Texas and Mississippi have the highest teen birthrates, and Massachusetts, Vermont, and New Hampshire have the lowest. This is a myth spread by the liberal media. 13. Marriage is a religious institution, defined by churches. This is why atheists do not marry. 12. Children can never succeed without a male and a female role model at home. That’s why our society has no single parents. 11. Gay marriage is not supported by religion. In a theocracy like ours, the values of one religion are imposed on the entire country. That’s why we have only one religion in America. 10. Obviously gay parents will raise gay children, since straight parents only raise straight children. 9. Straight marriages are valid because they produce children. Gay couples, infertile couples, and old people shouldn’t be allowed to marry because our orphanages aren’t full yet, and the world needs more children. 8. Gay marriage should be decided by the people and their elected representatives, not the courts. The framers checked the courts, which represent mainstream public opinion, with legislatures created to protect the rights of minorities from the tyranny of the majority. Interference by courts in this matter is inappropriate, just as it has been every time the courts have tried to hold back legislatures pushing for civil rights. 7. Straight marriage will be less meaningful if gay marriage were allowed; the sanctity of Britany Spears’ 55-hour just-for-fun marriage would be destroyed. 6. Civil unions, providing most of the same benefits as marriage with a different name are better, because “separate but equal” institutions are a good way to satisfy the demands of uppity minority groups. 5. Straight marriage has been around a long time and hasn’t changed at all; women are still property, blacks still can’t marry whites, and divorce is still illegal. 4. Legalizing gay marriage will open the door to all kinds of crazy behavior. People may even wish to marry their pets because a dog has legal standing and can sign a marriage contract. 3. Gay marriage will encourage people to be gay, in the same way that hanging around tall people will make you tall. 2. Being gay is not natural. Real Americans always reject unnatural things like eyeglasses, polyester, and air conditioning. 1. METEORS and VOLCANOES. _()_

Interestingly; you placed your question within the R & S section, opposed to the social section. You have SOME valid comments and some - not so valid comments too !
I'm a Christian and I DO accept "unnatural things" such as glasses, polyester and air conditioning !
"Being gay" is a choice - not a sentence ! I think the problem with "being gay" are some of those, who are NOT "gay". To elaborate further, I am saying that those, who have chosen not to imbibe of that particular life-style, cannot look down their own noses and point the finger. That is to say, that being self-righteous and of a holier-than-thou mindset is worse than "being gay" because to do so, is spiritual pride ! This is a sin too ! Remember; God is LOVE - He loves ALL people equally and having stated this, gives everyone CHOICE ! For anyone believer or non-believer to stand in judgement of anyone excersing CHOICE is wrong !
Yes; there are consequences for wrong choices - but God gives everyone the right to be wrong !!! This is the "beauty" of free-choice, free moral agency !!! There is nothing that occurs or happens in this world that God does not know about !!! - Trust me !!!
God Himself, did NOT raise "good" children either,("children" of Israel, in the Old Testament of the Bible, rebelled against Him and He, [God], ultimateley, divorced Israel ; this was a "failed "marriage"- see: Book of
Jeremiah, chapter 3, verse 8) ! Bottom-line is this. Without God in the individual lives of humans (who want Him to be), people's mindset is to do what is right in his or her own eyes !

You got it....Those answers just totally rule out any doubts that gay marriage is wrong...oh yes i can see how a man is supposed to be with a man. I mean its just the way we were made to be. That's why God gave us a.sses so we could have another mans **** shoved in it. Yes i can see how someone would really enjoy that...Did you know that two men can't have baby's without adopting??? What tha mess...It seems like if it was meant to be like that then men would at least be able to have a baby too...And a woman with a woman...yes so much fun there...That's what God made mouths and fingers and dildos for...yes just for that because its the right thing to do...Women also cant have babies without adopting or somethin...

1. I'm around Christians from time to time and I resent them. Therefore I am not a Christian nor do I want to be.
2. Christians, like many people of other religion over time, use the name of their religion and/or their deity to annihilate other cultures and enslave others. I am not like this at all.

love that list.
and this is to all the other comments:
nicole: im pretty sure you've lost enough 'brian' cells already.
midnight: are you a moron? it's not like everyone will all of a sudden turn gay.
kys: the world is populated enough. in fact, its way over-populated. im pretty sure couples wont stop having sex just because jack and steve down the street are married.
the main issue i have is that not one person can give an intelligent reason as to why being gay is wrong. when confronted, they throw insults and bible passages at me, like im supposed to base my life on a book written thousands of years ago.

Try being less judgmental and more loving...isn't that suppose to be the base of Christianity, that you love and accept all no matter how different they are from you?
Good job at living up to your own standards really.

The answer depends on how you define marriage.
Marriage started as a religious "contract" between a man and a woman under God. For many people that is still what it is.
Over time people have allowed themselves to identify marriage more and more as being of people. People need permission from people to get married. People need other people to do specific things to get married. Marriage has become more people oriented and less God oriented.
God does not give any specific rules about how a marriage starts in the Bible. There is no commandment "Thou shalt be married in a church by a preacher" or "Thou shalt have thy parents permission to marry" or even "You shall be at least 13 when you get married". There are no specific rules about HOW a marriage begins.
Adam and Eve were married. Do a search on the word wife in Genesis for evidence.
Some Christians teach the commandments of men, license, church, preacher, ceremony, etc, as the LAW of God. Not true, but, they teach it anyway.
In my opinion it does not matter what laws or rules people make about marriage. God starts marriages and God finishes marriages. Period.
If people want to make up some law that defines legal sexual partnerships it has nothing to do with God's law concerning marriage.
God will decide what is wrong and what is not wrong in marriage. God will judge. I don't have to.
