It is an Eating disorder, a mental illness, just like anorexia, so why do u all try to help anorexics and give them good advice, yet dont do the same with a bulimic??

Tell me about it. I mean if we ask a question even for recovery they're like yeh just stop throwing up...like it's that easy. I know exactly what I'm doing to myself but I can't stop. They think we're pathetic cos we are out of control bingeing and then we have to be sick. It's just a need to be thin and all anorexics and bulimics have that in common.

bulimia and anorexia are both mental diseases, yes. they are both common, yes. however, anorexia is more noticeable and therefore "easier" for some to help with.
a bulimic does not drop drastic weight. instead they fluctuate above and below their natural weight. it is therefore really hard to tell if someone is bulimic (unless they are constantly purging, in which case you get a general idea what is going on). anorexics are easier to distinguish because of the mood swings and drastic weight decrease.
i think because of this many people are more willing to help anorexics because it is a disease that people can understand better.

however, these are MY personal beliefs. i personally think that any disease in which case you harm your body is dangerous and deserves proper treatment. i do not "rank" diseases. they are all harmful.

maybe you should watch how you word your question next time. it seems very defensive and hostile, and therefore makes the answerer feel like we have to defend ourselves against being judgmental...when in reality, it's judgmental to call us judgmental.

just a heads up :)

I do grossly worry about the silly few young people whose conditions are self inflicted because society of today, has led them blindly and foolishly to those predicaments.
People start worrying as you quite rightly stated, because we are not sure whose condition is a natural genuine one or not.
Every young girl these days want to be skinny and they do not know when to stop, because they are blindly and foolishly following some irresponsible somebody somewhere in show business or the ether. Open your eyes and ears, young girls of today, because medium and/or fairly big size is beautiful as well, if there is no unnecessary strain on the heart..
Some men prefer the medium and/or fairly big sized women, you know.

because narrow minded, ignorant people dont understand. I suffered (and suffer) from anorexia and did throw up a few times so i know what you're going through. Without experience they dont know. They think they do. They dont. Email me if u wanna chat. Ill always be here.

hmmmmm, seems YOU are being rather judgemental yourself by saying "all" of us are judgemental towards you.
You get what you give in this world. I know quite well that bulimia is a disorder, I have treated many patients with it....so reconsider how you say something in future you might find more empathy if you offer it.

because people dont see bullimics as so serious.
its ridiculous because people die from bullimia as well.
Generally theres not a massive change in weight in bullimics so people think its not that big of a deal.
its stupid i know. bullimia is serious.
