You can get pickling cucumbers.. sometimes found in the grocery store in season or the farmer's market. They are smaller (like pickle size). You can also grow them fairly easily.

Just saw them yesterday at the market, they are called pickling cucumbers. They are always available this time of year, near the end of the local growing season.

Good Question....
Only available in season but they do have them in the produce dept. or farmer's market called Pickling Cukes or Kirby's.
Pickling cukes aren't as flavorful as regular cucumbers and have a thicker skin.
Kirby Cucumbers are small like cukes but have a thin skin and are good for eating and pickling.
Here is a link to show you the different ones.

Because they are generally not good eating as a cucumber, they are for pickling and certainly you've seen pickling cucumbers before.

Pickling cucumbers are a style that are smaller then those you detect interior the produce section. they're denser and not as juicy as salad cucmbers. additionally while the are cooked and pickled they'll shrink even smaller.

They do have small cukes that are called "pickling cucumbers" but your store may not carry them. They're quite bitter "un-pickled", though.
