Markus,
It has been a LONG Road for me but I am now able to forgive everyone that I have ever disliked for any reason whatsoever. GOD has really helped me in this. Have a wonderful day.
Thanks,
Eds
EDIT:
At this time, I believe that Not Forgiving another "IS THE POISON". It leads to eternal death and I have been attempting to stay as far from that road as I can. Have a good life!

Well, I had to think hard to decide who had harmed me the most, and whether or not I had forgiven him: yes, there is one.
When I was 13, I was raped by a gang of four juveniles and one adult. I will never forgive that one adult. The boys I can forgive because they were following his bad influence. But he was over 21, and I cannot forgive him, even though that was 47 years ago.

Forgiveness is NOT-forgetting. or accepting the wrongful deed . or wiping out the wrong (I'm trying to avoid the word sin here )
I think it is "letting go'
Of the hurt -
the desire to 'get even'-
the hate for the Do-er.
And the resentment and hate that comes along with all of it.
This did not happen all at once for me -the last time I 'did battle ' with the need to forgive someone it took two years of working it out . I hope this makes some sort of sense to you -it helped me !

No. I am very lucky that I tend to move on very quickly.
Though sometimes hard I always try to remember the quote, "Forgiveness is giving up all hope for a better past."
I am still working on the forgetting part. lol

...good analogy on your part...to answer, however, there is no one I haven't forgiven in my life...there are some I'm leery of, some I don't care for, but I have no unforgiveness in my heart for anyone...this isn't an automatic state of mind...it takes prayer and help from the Holy Spirit to reach this point

Yes. I find it difficult to forgive one preacher who is treated like God by his followers and under whose influence I have lost affection of my very close relatives. They are not only brain-washed but are also cheated which they fail to understand.
Your analogy is only half right for me. Possibly I am drinking poison, but certainly I do not wish ill of others. All I wish is to get back the lost affection of my relatives and I do not mind drinking poison for it.

No. I have found it hard to forgive many in my life but, with the help from God, I can! It is imperative that we forgive as Jesus tells us that we must forgive one another if He forgives us before His Father!

Love is the ability to forgive...especially where forgiveness is not deserved.
It's a very hard concept to master...but so pleasant to use.

I have forgiven all who have, in my opinion, wronged me and have asked to be forgiven. In my heart those who have not ask are forgiven, but there's another step THEY should take to be forgiven and I have no control over that.
