I've thought about this, and I think I'd like to adopt a kid.

I'm in the U.S. Air Force, how hard is it to adopt a kid if your active, single and in your late teens?

Would I get Base Housing?(not dorms)
Dependant Benefits?

...I'd be giving the kid a home, Education, health care and more... whats wrong with that?

I fix bases and runways.. my base needs me more than "deployed" bases with air fields.. i probably wont get deployed..ever.

As for the benefits, i hear they go to the kids anyway ( i was just asking to know if i'd have to pay out of my wallet for extra health care since he'd be adopted and such)

1. I have no clue if they would let you
2. yes for base housing as you would be "with dependants" even as a single dad
3. yes for dependant benefits

An adopted child would get the same benefits as a born child. Once that child is deemed yours he's yours in full, no half measures.

However, most adoption agencies carefully screen potential families and give heavy preference to stability and FAMILY. It's hard enough to adopt as a military family who will be moving often and can face deployments no matter how stable you think your MOS is. It's also hard to adopt as a single parent lacking that full family experience for the child. You right now have the additional strike of being a very young single person. In most states I'd be surprised if the adoption agencies asked you back for a second interview.

I think that if you got a girlfriend/fiancee(sp?)/wife, the adoption agency would be more likely to let you adopt a child, because there are two parents. Many people do not approve of a military life for a child as is, as military personnel move around quite often. However, if there are two parents, then the child would probably be better taken of. You can also have a kid with someone you know. Dating ---> Engagement -----> Marriage. Children go somewhere in that time line.

Are you saying you cannot find women that like you though? Because I would find that impossible. Girls like men in the military. Especially since you are in your late teens. Girls go crazy when they are filled with hormones!

i'm single and that i accompanied my daugther while she replaced into 6 months previous. She's 3 now, and the mild of my existence. She is fairly happy and properly-adjusted. all and sundry who cares for her - which includes acquaintances or daycare instructors assertion on how happy and properly behaved she is. i be attentive to many 2 determine households who're risky and overwhelmed and have not have been given any concept a thank you to determine a newborn. i think of if a individual is financially solid (we're not prosperous, yet we've sufficient) and if that individual has a competent help equipment of acquaintances and kin, and if the guy has solid parenting skills and solid existence skills often, then a single individual could properly be a mind-blowing determine! i think a newborn is plenty greater advantageous off in a competent, happy, one-determine living house, than an risky 2-determine living house. the key's love alongside with parenting ability.

No you cant you first commitment is to your job.

A single parent family is not the correct enviroment to bring up a kid in, what happens if you get deployed?

But your real reason I suspect is the free benifits which are for the child's benifit not yours.

And another of your reasons:To impress the girls!!

Get a life you muppet.

PROBABLY is not what an adoption agency want to hear from your lips, when they are considering your suitability.

oh sweetie, I dont think you should do that...and im not gonna bash you like the others for your reasons..everyone has a reason behind what they do..however I will tell you..your in your late teens which means the girls you meet will be too..alot of them arent gonna wanna be a mom yet..and when they do they are gonna want one of their own...personally I think you should just try to find "the one" for you, marry her and have beautiful babies...on the other hand unless you know you arent gonna be deployed..I would rethink it..I mean if you have to be deployed you must have someone to care for him/her or you can get discharged..

You are one selfish butthead mate, just stop and think about the kid!!!!

the kid needs love and attention, not a parent who will maybe away for a lot of the time.
