I don't know the answer exactly. this is because different posts do require different application requirements.

However, in general, I'd say that speaking, reading/writing is a basic requirement for most of the nurses' posts in HK.

here is a vacancy list in HK Hospital Authority.

you can find 1-2 nurse posts there. What I've read, it didn't mention the candidate needs to read/write Chinese. But did mention that the ones can speak Cantonese fluently.

I dont think you need to, like a Hospital Authority high level official named Saloman (I dont know his first name) is an Australian and he doesnt know Chinese and Hong Kong official language is English and Chinese. But of course, learning Chinese in Hong Kong would be beneficial to you for wider job opportunities as Hong Kong is majority dominated by Chinese. and you could get in touch to more people in Hong Kong to blend into them

I accept as true with the above posters who say that Hong Kong voters are chinese language, and that Hong Kong is a factor of China. living in China although, many chinese language human beings on the mainland think of of Hong Kong as being a splash diverse from something of China. maximum Hong Kong chinese language talk Cantonese, and Hong Kong nonetheless makes use of a various forex from something of China (the Hong Kong greenback as adversarial to the chinese language Yuan.) Hong Kong additionally has a various community governing gadget from counties on the mainland (a carry-out from the British era). So, specific, Hong Kong is chinese language, even though it is modern-day historic previous makes it diverse in many strategies from something of China.
