The Busch series is different class. Kinda like how nhra has top fuel dragsters, funnycars, prostock, etc. The busch cars may not be as significantly different in looks but the have to adhere to different rules. I don't know the exact rules, but pretty sure the most significant rules are wheelbase, weight, and some aerodynamic differences in the body. They have their own set of rules when it comes to the motor as well. They are a completely separate entity of the nextel cup so they have their own points system and crown their own champion. On weekends that the busch series and the nextel cup race at the same track you will see a lot of nextel cup drivers race in both classes. When it comes down to it, the busch series showcases the sponsors that can't afford to go all out with the nextel cup. The truck and busch series are used by drivers to hone their skills before moving up to the next level, the nextel cup.

The difference is the cars. The Busch series cars are lighter weight, and have a shorter wheelbase. Also the Busch cars have less Cubic Inch displacement engines are therefore generate less horsepower. Nextel cup drivers use the Busch racing to prepare for Sundays cup races. Busch cars usually run on the same tracks as Nextel but have their own tracks exclusively such as Nashville and Oriellys in Clermont, In. to name a few. Plus they run different road courses than Nextel uses. The Busch series is great racing and they Drivers use this as a stepping stone to the Nextel Cup Series.

Nextel Cup is the top series and have the longest races also they have the fastest cars. The Busch series has some cup guys in it but it really is just like the minor leagues and the races are about half as long as the cup races. Also they have slightly less powerful cars. The truck series is below the bush series and they race trucks instead of cars. Not to confuse you but next year the cup series will be called the Sprint Cup series next year.

Go to nascar.com and look around the web site. Start watching races and learn allot. Now the announcers make it very informative, sometimes too much. If you get the chance go to a race live. If you really want to learn racing go to a local small track if you have one nearby. They usually race on Saturday nights and it is awesome. I could go on and on about the differences and similarities of different racing classes. The best thing though is to investigate yourself and decide what you like or dislike. Good luck and have fun.
