That was a civil war against an American supported puppet government.
Do you think the Vietnamese would ever allow the United States to stay there and colonize Vietnam?
For thousands of years they fought the Cambodians, Chinese, and later the French and Japanese for political Independence.
What right did the US have to intrude into Vietnam's politics and suspend its national elections under Eisenhower ?
Perhaps you are confusing Cambodia - which Nixon and Kissinger destroyed after inserting Lon Nol in 1974 - with Vietnam. If we had left Cambodia under King Siahnouk alone, the killing fields would never have happened and the Khmer Rouge would never have seized power in a political vacuum in 1975. I strongly suggest you read some history and you need to back up your statement with some documentation.
Also we never had any business invading either of these countries. Bush's war is just another case of America betrayed by its clueless and inept leadership. Also there is PLENTY of discussion about the futility and illegality of Bush's war in Iraq.

Look man, other people need to start learning how to fix their own damn problems. I could give a rats a55 about a foreign intelectual or poor women and children. It isn't my fault they have failed to establish a "modern" society with rights, freedoms, and social guarantees. I am not wasting the only life I have to go die in some miserable sh!thole of a place because some "artsy-fartsy know it all" native to that nation is afraid to speak up against his government or political/social situation. Fock them! Democracy is the great equalizer but it isn't cheap.
PS I hate hippies too,

Silent? Hardly. Take a look at video footage of the next anti-war demonstration organized by move on dot org or one of its subsidiary outfits. The hair is whiter and so are the beards. And the ladies may be wearing bras. But, those are the ones from the 1960s who are locked in time. And, like that time in the 1960s, they offer absolutely no concrete alternative to the present policies.

Answer: Yes and NO!
As one of those "hippies" that also served in the Corps from '69 to '72...First! We are not silent about the consequences of this action! But foremost, you little .... We resent your ignorant distortion...Back to the question!
THANK YOU!
Socialist liberals did not care then, or now, of the consequences of cut and run cowardice!
Stepping on the graves of those their policies murdered, was as standard then as today!
Hey! This is a gem from my Hippie days...
Expect No Respect...From the left!
With all the world changes, some things remain the same.

You can't blame peace activists for the mass slaughter in Vietnam. The blame will always lie in the hands of the morons who invaded in the first place.
