That is the smartest most keen truth Ive heard in a long time on Y/A. You get BEST QUESTION!
Quite correct. Jesus on many occasions purposefully made his teachings hard to understand and accept in order to sift people. Following God isnt easy, it takes faith, determination, patience, and Gods revelation. Gods truth isnt learned, its revealed.

Non believers can read the Bible and receive the surface message of salvation. However to receive the deeper messages of the Bible requires filling of the Holy Spirit. The messages of the Bible are layered. It's like looking at a 3D picture. Some can only see the surface picture, while others know how to tap into the 3D part and see the depth of the picture with a whole different picture revealed. Same picture two different ways SEE the picture. As for common sense and intelligence did you never read this verse?"For My thoughts are not your thoughts, Nor are your ways My ways," declares the LORD. Isa. 55:8 God specifically does not do things the way man does, that would be too easy, and God's way is not easy. He creates a new mind in His followers that is able to discern His word and purpose for us. We don't have to try to overcome our human nature He does it for us. I'm sorry you never learned how to depend on Him to help you. The good news is it is never to late to learn and God is the God of second and third chances. All you have to do is trust Him. Are you ready?

I do know exactly what you are talking about. There are scriptures to confirm it. I just don't have the time right now to find them. I have to go get ready for Bible study. Maybe I'll come back later and give this one some more attention. I know that I did not understand it until the Holy Spirit began convicting me and opened my eyes. That's why it's called spiritual blindness or darkness. When I think of the years before I became a Christian that's exactly how it seems to me...like I was stumbling around in the darkness. One of the most important things we can do when witnessing to someone or for someone whom we are praying for to come to Christ, is to pray that God would send the Holy Spirit to convict, draw and open their eyes. After all it is the Holy Spirit that makes all the difference. God bless!!

I think you will find that what cannot be understood are the deeper things of the spirit. You are right to the extent that those who have rejected or never had a heart for hearing of Jesus Christ, and him crucified, will lack understanding.
There is still enough given to be understood for salvation, else God would be a respecter of persons. The Gospel is offered to all.
Some highly religious people on both sides of the fence enter into things they really don't know about. Those who do not approach the word in humility will have serious errors; being left with their own opinions and without revelation. But God still shows mercy and grace.
Judas was a Hebrew believer. In one view he simply didn't like the way things were going; and tried to force a political solution in keeping with his personal interpretation of Scripture. He stands as one example of a believer who just didn't get it and it cost him his life.
You are correct in part but your question is a little closed off. It would be safer to say that Scripture will not be understood by the haughty or proud. God resists these types of people. Further the understanding they do not have is in their hearts and not in their heads.

Yes the the Holy Bible is holy and spiritual, and you need the help of God spirit to give you the understanding. God told His disciples, that God the Father would send them a comforter(spirit) to help them understand all the words he had spoke to them. The bible was meant for God's people, those that have excepted Christ, and are in Christ, living their lives as Christ did His.
The non believers are being lead by the influences of Satan. Satan knows his days are short, and he is leading all he can, down the road of destruction.

Did you know presently that the scriptures and
'Holy Bible' (in most cases) do not match? Did you presently know the beast of Rev. 17 is the USA?
For too long; I let people that made 'preaching' the gospel full-time their job be a delegate for my understanding of the scriptures. That was a mistake on my part in the past!!!

what a load of twaddle! We have read the Bible and understand it better that U, for we can see that it is just stories and myth, that the real meaning behind the stories have been lost in the bureaucracy of the Church. remember Jesus taught that there was 1 God, 1 God. it was the Church that decided to make his prophet a God as well, then they added the Apostles, then the saints, then the Popes all given the power to heal, all given the power of Jesus!
like I said what a load of twaddle!
next time come up with something better than this to justify your bible and its contradictions and hypocrisy! the bible is nothing more than a tool, used by thechurch to control the masses! free your mind, emancipate your conscience and you will see this for yourself

You danged-well betcha. Some things DON'T mean exactly what they say, and need to be 'spiritually discerned'. People who think that the bible means exactly what it says are OBVIOUSLY misinterpreting it, since they are not possessed of the 'Secret Magical Decoder Ring'... errr... oops... scratch that... ahh... I mean they are not possessed of the 'Holy Spirit'. Take 1 Corinthians, for example:
1:21 For after that in the wisdom of God the world by wisdom knew not God, it pleased God by the foolishness of preaching to save them that believe.
1:22 For the Jews require a sign, and the Greeks seek after wisdom:
1:23 But we preach Christ crucified, unto the Jews a stumblingblock, and unto the Greeks foolishness;
1:24 But unto them which are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God, and the wisdom of God.
Under the guidance of the Holy Spirit, that is very easy to interpret. Here we have a scam artist, trying to build an MLM organization, and trying to educate his victims on how to sort out the ideal types of NEW victims from those who will immediately see through the scam. He is essentially telling his potential recruits to focus their efforts on people who are as dumb or dumber than themselves... otherwise, they will just get laughed at. He is trying to convince them that stupidity and gullibility are virtues. It worked very well. It's a good thing, though, that these recruits did not know anything about scripture... otherwise, bits like Ecclesiastes, Proverbs, etc. might have presented a bit of a problem... stuff like:
15:2 The tongue of the wise useth knowledge aright: but the mouth of fools poureth out foolishness.
3:35 The wise shall inherit glory: but shame shall be the promotion of fools.
2:14 The wise man's eyes are in his head; but the fool walketh in darkness.

The Bible can be misinterpreted by believers also since believers in Christ have many mutally exclusive interpretations of the same verse. We need an authorative teaching authority to interpret the bible.

Seems right from where I'm reading. Look at all the miss-interpretations being expounded as truth.
Entire religions are based on falsehoods, and miss understandings.
Satan keeps the world in chaos because of it.
Something they call the "Rapture" isn't in the bible, and yet many believe in it. Even though they say they believe the bible, they can't see where God said the meek will inherit the earth.
I could go on for hours....................

Because we do know what we are talking about.
That's ridiculous to suggest that it's not meant to be understood by non-believers? How else would "His" word be taught? Are you suggesting that "God" is so sadistic that he would create people so that they can't understand "His" word, and therefore not believe in Him and "get" His message, and then condemn them to eternal torture for not understanding it?
Nonsense like "The scriptures are only meant to be truly understood by his 'Chosen' " is just a desperate attempt to excuse the fact that the scriptures are nonsense.
