French, Italian, Spanish, and some others are "romance" languages.

The words sound "softer"...thus more romantic because they have so many more vowels (as compared to consonants) than the non-romance languages.

Italian has more vowels than French or Spanish.

The French tonic accent is quite different than its English counterpart. In English, each word has one stressed syllable, meaning that one syllable of the word is pronounced more emphatically. In addition, individual words can be stressed in order to show particular emphasis on them.

In French, each syllable of a word and each word is pronounced with the same emphasis, except for the final syllable of each rhythmic group. This, combined with the beautiful vowel sounds and 4 nasals makes it sound great.

I absolutely feel the same way as you. Really, I think it's the use of liaison throughout the language, making it flow so smoothly and making it sound less abrupt.
