I got to thinking that if G-d is Omnipotent and Omiscient then one would assume that he already knows what you want and what is best for you and what is actually going to happen. So, to prayer anything but the Lord's prayer would be questioning G-d's judgment...right?

What are proper matters about which to pray?

Matt. 6:9-13: “You must pray, then, this way: ‘[1] Our Father in the heavens, let your name be sanctified. [2] Let your kingdom come. [3] Let your will take place, as in heaven, also upon earth. [4] Give us today our bread for this day; and [5] forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. And [6] do not bring us into temptation, but deliver us from the wicked one.’” (Notice that God’s name and purpose should be given priority.)

Ps. 25:4, 5: “Make me know your own ways, O Jehovah; teach me your own paths. Make me walk in your truth and teach me, for you are my God of salvation.”

Luke 11:13: “If you, although being wicked, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more so will the Father in heaven give holy spirit to those asking him!”

1 Thess. 5:17, 18: “Pray incessantly. In connection with everything give thanks.”

Matt. 14:19, 20: “[Jesus] took the five loaves and two fishes, and, looking up to heaven, he said a blessing and, after breaking the loaves, he distributed them to the disciples, the disciples in turn to the crowds. So all ate and were satisfied.”

Jas. 5:16: “Pray for one another.”

Matt. 26:41: “Keep on the watch and pray continually, that you may not enter into temptation.”

Phil. 4:6: “Do not be anxious over anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication along with thanksgiving let your petitions be made known to God.”

Thats a thought. If you can be that beautiful and spend your life praying only the lord's prayer, yeah that probably would give you amazing wings.

My take is that he gives us options which we choose from. We are co-creating within him. You can't ever be outside the body of the Father of all creation. He is the source of life.

I don't think that praying for specific things is "blasphemous" but I certainly think that it is wrong. God isn't a jukebox that will play the song you want if you put in a token. God is the divine creator and all worship should be considered sacred, holy and valuable. We pray because we want to pray and we should pray, not because we "need" to pray. We should ask for only his love, blessings, grace and a sanctuary in his holy lotus feet, when praying. If we pray for specific things, what is that other than a business deal??? You are saying to God I will give you X time and X effort in return for Y. That is not considered prayer because at the heart of all prayer should be devotion, love, faith, dedication, submission and loyalty.

when I pray the Rosary, i'm considering a ingredient of the existence of Christ of the piticular Rosary i'm praying. yet there is noting incorrect with visualizing Mary while Praying. Mary is a huge occasion for us and her activity is often the comparable, to steer us to her Son who we do Worship. Idol worshiping is incorrect, using fact of this we don't worship the two Mary or any statues interior the Church. To be Idol worship you're able to be watching that merchandise as your salvation.

---Could be interpreted as 'give us today the things we need- could it not ? The Our Father prayer that we recite is a translation .
Our Father ---acknowledgment that G-d is our Father--
In Heaven -another acknowledgment Help us not to be tempted more that we are able to withstand-
Help us to be forgiving just like You are forgiving.---
Save us from the evil one---
Just a thought -something to think on.

I believe that as our Holy Parent we should feel free to ask for anything we need --just like Mom and Dad the answer just might be "no"
I also believe that asking for silly things is -just silly , not a sin.

Yes, God knows everything that is going to happen in the future, but remember, He's not necessarily deciding them for you. This is where concept of 'free will' comes in. You don't know your future, so you can't just sit back and leave everything to Him. You have to take matters into your own hands while having complete faith in God and His decisions.

There are two very thought-provoking sayings from Prophet Muhammed (SM), as follows:

"Trust in God, but tie your camel."

"The results of all actions are dependent on the intentions."

Never is it blasphemous to pray to God for forgiveness, for salvation and for some cherished specific thing that you want to achieve or recieve, only if the thing isn't harmful or forbidden.

I would like to finish this with the help of a very inspirational message from Allah, the All-knowing :

"If a believer comes one step towards me, I will come ten steps towards him. If he comes to me walking, I would come to him running."

Think about it, pal. Good luck.

This is a really good question, one that I used to ask myself. Here is the answer I found years later: When God created man, he gave him authority over all the earth, and, therefore, cannot intervene on earth without us asking him. Also, God is a personal God, and he desires to spend time with us. He wants us to ask him for help, even with the smallest things.

Jesus Christ said "ask whatever you will in my name, and you shall receive it."
Therefore, it is acceptable to ask God, your father and creator, for what you want.
It is true He knows....but He values the personal connection...it is all about your intimate relationship with the Lord.
So go ahead and ask.
Do not be ashamed.
And remember "do not go befor the Lord empty-handed." Make an offering, a sacrifice, a vow, a tithe.

Not really. God invites us to bring out concerns to him. It is true that He already know everything that we desire and feel, but it wouldn't be much of a relationship if he just gave us everything without us even asking!

God wants a relationship with us. And to have a relationship, you must communicate. For humans to God, we use prayer.
