As Salaam Alaikum
I have seen many Muslimahs kiss eachother right cheek to left cheek and back to right cheek, which is 3 times whenever they meet eachother ever time, but is this Islamic correct or culture? I was taught that Muslimahs should shake hands and say as salaam alaikum, or as salaamu alaikum wa rahmatuAllah wa barakatuhu , and it's okay to hug your sister if you have not seen her in along time, but kissing cheek to cheek 3 times is incorrect and it's culture verse Islamic correct. Am I right? I think this act can become confusing to new Muslimahs into thinking this greeting is apart of Islam instead of culture.

This is my source:
A person asked the Prophet (pbuh): When one of us meets his brethren or his friends should he bow for them? The Prophet said: No. He asked: Should he hug them or kiss them? The Prophet replied: No. He asked: Should he shake their hands? The Prophet (pbuh) said: Yes. (as reported in Tirmidhi)

i actually read by kissing it is not correct unless you are returning from a long journey, because the prophet said just shake hands . i think the kissing is cultural like the french do. i just say salam to sisters i dont know and if i do know they and i havent seen them in a while i kiss them ,. if i see them often i dont.

When my brother in law sees his parents, he kisses their forehead, their hands, then their feet as a sign of respect.

What I do is that I kiss my parents forehead, when I don't see them for long time.

When my aunts meet each others, they shake hands and exchange greetings. If they haven't seen each others for long time, they kiss cheek to cheek. Actually, there no kissing, its just their cheeks touching.

It is the first time I have seen this hadith, thank you for sharing. I thought it is based on culture but not religion.

well I'm Algerian and when i go to see my family back home we kiss on the cheek about 4 times and when you seen them recently then its just twice but i don't believe its incorrect, because even the men do it. Many different ethnicities do it. I think its very normal.

Why can't you just greet each other the way you want? Why does it have to be dictated by some holy text?

And do you punish someone just because she kissed you on the wrong cheek first?

Can you not see how pathetic this is?
