There can be only one answer to this: yes, it is! Simply open Corinthians, chapter 11. Read verses 3-10.
But I would have you know that the head of every man is Christ and the head of the woman is the man, and the head of Christ is God. Every man praying or prophesying with his head covered, disgraces his head. But every woman praying or prophesying with her head uncovered disgraces her head, for it is the same as if she were shaven. For if a woman is not covered, let her be shaven. But if it is a disgrace for a woman to have her hair cut off or her head shaved, let her cover her head. A man indeed ought not to cover his head, because he is the image and glory of God. But woman is the glory of man. For man was not created for woman, but woman for man. This is why the woman ought to have a sign of authority over her head, because of the angels. In other words, the passage means what it says. Have you ever wondered why Catholic nuns dress like they

wearing hijab (Muslim hijabi women, have you ever been mistaken for a nun? I have, more than once). Have you ever wondered why Mary the mother of Jesus (peace be upon them both) is always depicted in Christian art with her hair covered? Did you know that until the 1960s, it was obligatory for Catholic women to cover their heads in church (then they "modernized" the service)?
It is true that most Christian women do not, and many don't take other teachings of the Bible (against pre-marital sex, adultery, etc) literally either. However, there do seem to be a growing number of Christian women out there who are committed to following the Bible as it is written are there any christian women that cover besides amish and some spanish catholics how do you feel about this?

This is true, a woman must cover her head in church. My mom was old-school Catholic (pre Vatican II), and said that if a female didn't have a veil or handkerchief to cover with in church, she'd use a tissue.

As for Catholic women who veil themselves in church, pretty much it's only the elderly ladies who do this, although 1 Corinthians is clear about this, that all women should cover in church.

I never realized this while I was a Christian, so I never covered in church. If ever I do enter a church again, I will cover, even if I'm no longer a Christian. It just feels right, you know?

Btw, the Muslim hijab is so beautiful. <3

God created woman to have a spiritual covering over her at all times. It is a godly woman who is under that covering through submission of choice.
A woman before she is married is under her father.
When she has sex before marriage or gets married, it is with the man she slept with (hopefully her husband).
If her husband dies and she cannot conceive, the church becomes her covering. God had it "covered."
Now, if a woman prays or prophesies while not properly under her spiritual covering, she is out of order. A woman goofed in the garden, so now a woman can never be the spiritual authority without a proper covering over her (mother i.e.)

Sorry ladies, this means senior pastor as well. If your husband is senior pastor, working side by side is acceptable. If your husband is not a pastor, don't seek after what you cannot have.

I think this kind of legalism is tearing the body of Christ apart.
Does it occur to you that men and women living in that area, wore a head covering long before either Jesus or Moe came on the scene.
It's hot over there , the sun would fry your head if you didn't. Has nothing to do with either religion.

Whatever. Maybe you should continue reading that passage, before you judge. Paul goes on to say that although woman was created from man, man is born from woman, and that BOTH come from God; so each church should judge for themselves whether or not a woman should cover her hair. He also says that if a woman has long hair, THAT can be used as her "covering."

Verses 11-16:
In the Lord, however, woman is not independent of man, nor is man independent of woman. For as woman came from man, so also man is born of woman. But everything comes from God. Judge for yourselves: Is it proper for a woman to pray to God with her head uncovered? Does not the very nature of things teach you that if a man has long hair, it is a disgrace to him, but that if a woman has long hair, it is her glory? For long hair is given to her as a covering. If anyone wants to be contentious about this, we have no other practice—nor do the churches of God.

An understanding of Scripture is most necessary before one starts testifying to others. Women in the Corinthian culture wore veils to differentiate themselves from the prostitutes whose heads were shaved as a sign of submission to Aphrodite. Women today are NOT commanded to wear a veil but to dress modestly so that we do not bring shame to the Lord or ourselves. I'm sorry sweetheart, but a veil means absolutely nothing without a contrite heart. Women need to take care of their heart issues first, then the outer will take care of itself.

that's a controversy of religious conviction. the recent testomony teaches that ladies could save their heads lined. It additionally teaches that a woman's long hair is her "glory." Muslim women are required to maintain maximum of their bodies lined, particularly their heads. the version between Christianity and Islam is that interior the former that's a controversy of selection while interior the latter that's mandatory. using fact of this non-muslims have this variety of stressful time with the apparell muslims could positioned on. Westerners have been taken aback by the photos of muslim women and girls being overwhelmed in Afganistan using fact their veils slipped under their faces or eyes. I even have considered muslim women interior the warmth of summer season at an leisure section dressed from the tops of their heads to their ft. in user-friendly terms their eyes have been seen. and that they have been working around interior the warmth, wearing those outfits, working after their babies on a similar time as their adult adult males sat under a coloration tree temporarily-sleeved shirts. i needed to pass as much as those women and tell them "you're in united statesa. now. you do no longer could do this right here. you will possibly be loose in case you pick for to be." Ofcourse i did no longer. yet I particular as hell needed to.

I think it makes religion look really stupid - again.
How can a woman covering her head have anything to do with anything?? Just moronic!
If the bible or the qu'ran told you to poke red hot pokers through your eyes in order to worship, would you do it?

I personally think that women who have their heads covered in church because of this passage are rather scarey. In my mind it is a religious spirit that motivates it, all the way around.
