specifically SONY DSC-H9/H7. i know most of sony products are now built in china. there is a department store i know that sells more than 30% less. isnt that amazing? i'm so curious about it. i want to buy it but i'm a little bit hesitant. i dont want to lose my money for a fake one.

it's probably not an imitation but rather a black market camera. With black market camera generally you won't get warranty so if the camera broke afer one week use, you're out of luck.

Basically you'll want to get a legal product anyway so I think it's better to stay away from those kind of thing.

I had a Sony h5. It was a great camera until it broke. No power. it used AA batteries. I've read reviews on the h9 and it didn't look good. also sony went to a propriety battery. which are usually expensive to replace and you can't just pop in another battery when it goes dead. unless you have two. I went with the canon s5is because of this and so far i've been happy. Imitators go to a lot of trouble to imitate the products they're copying. try before you buy.

what department store is it? If it's in a sony box, and has the sony markings all over it, it's probably a sony.
most department stores mark up the product prices considerably. It's probably legit. Sales like that are usually a good find.

dear friend,
if you are buying gadget from authorised dealer, dont worry whatever you buy , ask for invoice & warranty card, its terms, and get it signed & sealed by a prominent authorised dealer for sony, to assure it is orginal product and not a fake one.
also make sure, you will get benefits of warranty for stipulated period as and when required. i hope this will help you.
all the best...

Just ask the seller "Does this camera have a USA Warranty?" If the seller says "It has a full manufacturer's warranty." Thank them and buy elsewhere.
