Especially in towns controlled by a few families, will the police do the bidding of those in power when they do not want an arrest made because the victim is someone who has publlicly expressed opinions they do not like?

No, wfsgymwear, I do not mean a victim who is a criminal. I mean a victim of willful property damage who is a citizen who wrote letters to the editor pointing out problems in the community, and therefore some of those holding power in the community have a grudge against that person. Do you think it is only in other countries that the police are used for political retaliation?

Yes. It comes down to whether you are believable. If they don't think you're credible because they don't like you, they can squash your complaint based on lack of probable cause. I also see cases which should NOT be charged, but the cop makes the arrest because they like the victim and believe their BS. I then have the task of calling the PO and telling them not to bring crap cases to me and to perform better police work.

Bottom line is that it happens in both directions.

Do you mean...A convicted drug dealer, or someone who has previous felony arrests for gun related charges? Do you mean a "victim" that has a "not guilty" charge for murder- when it is known he is? The same person who MF's us when ever we come across him... I HAVE NO CLUE WHAT IT IS THAT YOU COULD BE TALKING ABOUT. WE WOULD NEVER NEGLECT THIS SUPERB INDIVIDUAL.

Yes, I believe they do. When people obtain power, they become corrupt. The founders of the U.S. certainly believed this. Thus, the second ammendment. Also, did you know that the founders did not want a STANDING ARMY?
