They do have free speech .. ...
They weren't told that they couldn't protest the war. They were told that they couldn't do it in the parade. As you read, they were allowed to continue to protest the war and to support their fellow veterans on the sidewalks. They were never forbidden of their rights to free speech, they were just re-directed to do so in a better manner. This seems logical ... it wasn't a protest march this was a town parade.

Unless you complete your full term of military obligation you are covered by the UCMJ, military law. That prohibits certain acts of protest, violating your oath, and governs your actions. If you have completed that term of obligation then you have no roadblocks to saying whatever you want. They volunteered to join, so live by the rules !

They DO have free speech. But if they want to protest the war they should organize their own parade.

Your presence here proves you are making up lies when you say war veterans don't have freedom of speech. How sick can you get?

There is a time and place for everything... and they do have freedom of speech, but not in a private parade.

The parade was not designated or approved for propaganda speech, hence they were pulled. It's as simple as that.

Remind me to send some tissues and diapers to those cowards.

Revolting.

Don't wanna fight, don't join. How hard is that to figure out? You took the money, take the job.

I wanted nothing to do with war, THAT"S WHY I DIDN"T JOIN UP!

The people who organise and sponsor the parade have the right to determine who gets to be in their parade.
