Which barrel would shoot a 12 gauge slug more accurately from a Rem 870? A 20 inch rifled barrel or a 26 inch cylinder bore barrel?

It would depend on how far you are shooting.* The 26" would be OK for up to 75 yards, but the 20" may take you out to 150 yards.*

A 20 inch rifled barrel. Thye stabilize the bullet and make it fly farther and more accuratly. A 26 inch barrel that is smooth wont have the accuracy of a rifled barrel of any size.

I think both would do the job quite well, because in a rifled slug, the rifling is on the slug, and comes out of the cylinder bore just like it would out of a rifled barrel.

I would say that a 20" rifled barrel shooting sabot slugs will be more accurate than a 26" barrel shooting rifled slugs

No contest..The 20" Rifled Barrel (Longer range/More accurate) will outshoot the longer smoothbore/cylinder bore barrel in a heart beat.....

Defential the rifled barrel as it spins the slug which stabilizes it
