I wouldn't think so, so I'd call the vet. If you have to use dish detergent, I think Ivory is the most gentle.

When you take the kittens to the vet for their shots, etc. get some of the flea, tick and heartworm med that you apply to their neck. Then you won't have to worry about fleas.

I don't like the thought of giving a bath to a 4-day old kitten.

No! Dish detergent is way too harsh for any cat's skin regardless of age. Animals need the oil in their skin for protection. At four days old, I wouldn't wash them at all. Try placing several flea collars in and around their bedding area. I think the best you can do is try to keep the fleas away from them until they are old enough to get on Frontline or a similar product. Also, change and wash their bedding in hot water with bleach each day. This will kill flea eggs and hopefully help you get the problem under control. Other than that, you need to consult your vet.

The Dawn was recommended to me by my vet for fleas but wait till it's maybe 3 weeks old. Be careful not to get it in kitty's eyes. As long as she doesn't drink it a little getting in her mouth will not hurt her. Rinse her well and towel dry her. Keep her warm and away from drafts.

My vet also put Revolution on my kittens when they were 6 weeks old. They have been fine. The Revolution is great for young indoor kittens as it gets worms and ear mites too. As they get older switch to Frontline for flea control. There's nothing better.

The mother should take care of grooming her kittens at this age.
Please do not use anything on these babies as it can potentially harm them.
If the situation is out of hand ask your Vet what you can do to control it.

If your house is currently flea infested .. Move mom and babies somewhere safe and then proceed to bomb or spray your home for fleas.

You'd better take the kitten to the vet for a flea dip. Dish detergent is for dishes, not cats. Fleas on a kitten this young could lead to anemia and death if they are really infested. You do not mention if the kitten is still nursing. If not, you have to get a kitten formula and a bottle to feed it, and they need to eat frequently.

any soap will kill off flea, some just do it quicker than others. but for a kitten that young, i'm not sure i'd use anything on the kitten but warm water and a flea comb. if you dip the comb into a bowl with water/soap mixed, it will kill the fleas coming off the kitty so you're not actually getting any on the cat itself.

call your vet to see if there's anything safe for that age.

You can use dish detergent but only a small amount. The fleas need to be treated with special stuff. See a vet or get a flea collar. Fleas lay eggs in the carpet and for up to 30 days keep hatching. It could take months to rid your house of fleas. Take professional action immediately.

No, absolutely not! Cats, and especially kittens, have very sensitive skin and dish detergent is MUCH too harsh for their skin. Even baby shampoo meant for humans is not really gentle enough for a cat's skin. Not to mention which, the dish detergent will not kill the fleas anyways. Get some cat/kitten shampoo created to kill fleas.

Good grief, no! It is safest to use olive oil on your cat, it will unstick the fleas, but not poison the cat.
