It was so far back I can't really remember when I first learned it.
I just remember learning it mostly as a rumor among children not really from the clergy. It wasn't until later I learned from someone that knew the bible and the story.

I do know now that he didn't become evil when he fell from grace. He was evil all along. He just didn't fall from grace until he had shown his true colors for to long and annoyed God to much. God gave him all the chances to become good. He chose not to.

Of course I am still learning so my information probably still has wholes in it.

I don't know what age I learned of this, but I am very familiar with it. Satan was one of God's angels. He tried to become like God, and as such, he fell from grace and was cast out of heaven. 1/3 of the angels followed him and now serve him. They are referred to as demons.
