Not everyone. Islam is every bit as homophobic as Christianity. And also, in the undeveloped world, there are a lot of uninformed people.
The issue of sexual equality is mostly one of the developed world and in the developed world, Christianity is the only religion that still has any influence. And many sects of Christianity still oppose gay rights.

nothing.
You know, I do not understand how it is that people can not follow through, with the logic and reasoning behind the whole, 'we are born this way' dogma.
If everyone of a different sexual orientation, is to be accepted as 'born that way', then would not this mean that besides the GLTG people, that pedophiles, necrophiliacs, and those who rape, or practice bestiality were also 'born that way'?
And where does the 'born this way' doctrine end?
Should not the 'born this way' doctrine also apply to all conduct that humans are capable of?
Why should we prosecute those who steal?
Commit murder?
Drive drunk?
How can we discriminate against these people for their choices, if we have as a society made an excuse for those in the GLTG community?

See Romans 1:27-32 and Gal 6:7 in NWT or KJ Bibles. These are the best translated and the most popular and truthful Bibles in the world.

Homosexuals are usually persecuted in patriarchal societies where men are held on a pedestal. According to them when a man engages in a homosexual act he is some how demeaning his status as a man and taking up the role of a woman. Religious texts can be interpreted in various ways. Its up to the society to interprete it the way it fits best for the time.

No. Homosexuals are a natural minority, so they've traditionally had to deal with majority bigotry. Christianity is hardly the only religion to make it official - although the generally anti-sex trend of Christianity has pushed it to its extremes.
Of course, there have been cultures - notably the ancient Greeks and Romans - that tolerated and even encouraged homosexuality. In fact, it's been the norm in some cultures - which suggests that our current attitudes are likewise due to culture, and are not "absolute."
LOL...yeah, that's right, go ahead and pretend to be dense enough not to understand the difference between homosexuality and rape, incest, pedophilia and the rest - or even drunk driving and murder! People on this board never fail to amuse me. Of course, they really DO understand the difference - they just cherish being able to hate an entire class of people for absolutely no good reason, on the "authority" of a few cherry-picked, misinterpreted passages in Scripture.

No. Some countries murder them. Christianity hasn't harmed them, but maybe brought up the errors of their ways.

well, i wouldnt say that all christins are that way... now, southern baptist christians is a whole other story... southern baptist are very set in their ways and very opposed to change of any kind..... so, they see it as an abomination and thats why they arent accepting.. not sayin that is a good reason, becasue as a christian, you hsould be acceptin of everyone, not condeming them for their sin, as we are ALL sinners... sometimes i think christians for get that... we all are weak at times, and give into sin.

Homosexual sex is an abomination. Sorry, but its true.
I have nothing against homosexuals: I don't persecute them. But neither will I condone sinful behavior. If I did that, I would make a mockery of my faith.
EDIT : "Homophobe" is a phony, invented word. A "phobia" is a "fear", and I know of no Christian that fears homosexuals.

Try being gay in a Muslim society if you think Christians are cruel. Christians just do their duty in warning about God's coming wrath toward people who insists in doing wickedness.
In a Muslim society, you will be killed.
