I heard about 20 grams. But that seems very little because most soft drinks have way more than that. And the cereal I eat in the morning, the Kashi Crunch one, has 13 grams!!

What does that tell you? You shouldn't be drinking soft drinks! This might not seem realistic but remember soft drinks didn't always used to be around and people drank things like water. Sugars occur naturally in fruits and this is were you should get your main intake of them. Your body doesn't need a lot to function properly and if you get too much it can lead to diabetes and/or weight gain. The decisions you make with your eating habits now will affect your future health so choose wisely!

the sugar intake is not age or gender dependent. 20 grams of processed sugar is about right, the less the better. this is what fruit is for in the diet, all natural sugars and nutrients together.
