I posted a document for an online class and my instructor emailed me saying it must be posted in WORD. I have WordPerfect Office 2002 which has WordPerfect 10 installed. Is this NOT the same as WORD? All WORD documents sent to me open just fine (after automatic conversion). I'd ask Microsoft but I'm not paying $49.99 just to ask.

its not the same but i think word can open wordperfect files. also try save as and look at the bottom where the file type is listed, click the drop down menu and see if it can save as a Word file.

NO! WordPerfect is Corel, a completely different software, that has been around almost as long as Word. But it ISN'T Word, and if your instructor told you to post it in Word, then that's what you will have to do. If you can't afford to buy Word (and what student can?!?), get OpenOffice, a free office suite with a word processing program that can be read by Word or WordPerfect.

I have, and use, WordPerfect 12, and have taught WP. I love it, but it is NOT the preferred word processing program for schools or colleges. Just get the OfficeOffice suite, convert your document and post it again, notifying your instructor that the program is Sun's OpenOffice. I think you'll find that's acceptable.

When you SAVE a document with WordPerfect, use the FILE TYPE option and pick a version of Microsoft Word. That would make it compatible with everyone else.

If you find that people have trouble with your saved document, then get the free OpenOffice, which includes a Word compatible word processor. Visit http://www.openoffice.org

Hey, Microsoft is not that evil. You can visit their website for free; and GOOGLE SEARCH for Microsoft Word for FREE.

Good luck and Happy Computing!

Word is the Microsoft Office word proceesing program.

WordPerfect is another word processing program.

It is rather unkind of your teacher to require it in a specific format.

Anyway you should be able to do a "save as" and save it as microsoft word format.

If that one does not work as I'm not sure exactly on the converters you have installed you could try rich text format (RTF) if you don't have word.

hope this helps.
