Abuse is the wrong term to use.
Animal "abuse" is defined as acts of violence or neglect perpetrated against animals are considered animal cruelty. Examples include overt abuse, dog fighting and cockfighting, and companion animals being neglected or denied basic necessities of care, such as food, water or shelter.

It is not even "Neglect"- Neglect is t is the failure to provide an animal with the most basic of requirements of food, water, shelter and veterinary care. Neglect is often the result of simple ignorance on the animal owner's part and is usually handled by requiring the owner to correct the situation. Although, you might ask why anyone would need to be educated on the importance feeding, watering and sheltering a living breathing creature.

I think it is. dogs are like have a baby and if you had just had a baby would you leave it sitting in its own crap. Just as you potty train your kids for the benefit of there own health and yours so you do with you other baby, the dog. It is cruel to not disapline them and train them.I have one dog that is an inside dog and I can tell you that it is very hard to potty train a puppy and much harder if the dog had no disapline when it was younger. And as for your health and that of your kids if you have any and anyone that comes to your place it would be wise do potty train because the popp and pee can carry things that are harmful to your family and can land big hospital bills if your kids play in it or try other things with the fecal.I hope that you will take the time to potty train your animals. It can be frustrating but is worth it and will in the end make alot less work for you because you will not have to worry about stepping in it or cleaning it up evry few hours.Take my advice and you wont regret the decision to potty train.

Nope. If it lives out in the backyard and you clean up after it regularly then you don't really have to "potty train" it. If its an indoor dog, you will have to teach it to go outside eventually, or at least not get upset when it goes in the house if it doesn't know any better.

I don't really think its neglect either, but it isn't a hard thing to teach a dog not to go in the house if you work at it for a few days.

No, but it could be a symptom of a bigger problem - unwillingness to train a dog and teach it good manners, which can lead to the dog "acting up" if it doesn't know any better, which can lead to it being banished to a chain outside, being hit, or other things that are animal abuse.

This isn't to say that unhousebroken dogs are automatically on the road to ruin, but any dog that doesn't know how to behave may behave "wrong," and then suffer the consequences.

No I wouldn't consider it abuse unless Ur being mean to her/him when they do go.But as a owner u need to potty train them.I rescued puggy from a puppy mill. She was one of the few that was able to be re homed. It took alot It took me close to 2 years to totally potty train her.But keep in mind she was caged for 3 years of her life.It just takes patience and alot of luv,But sooner or later U can do it.Don't use puppy pads(not sanitary and it gives the dogs mixed signals of when to go.Just be firm and repetitive in Ur training. If u can catch her right before she goes,Pick her up and say want to go outside? And every time u do that she will recognize the words. If she goes and then u find it,In a firm voice say ONO u go outside and pick her up and place her outside in Ur fence Or walk her on a leash. They are just like kids,Repetition is everything Hun..But In my opinion IT IS NOT abuse.U can also try giving her a treat when she goes outside and potties, then she will get the idea if I go, I get something good to eat.LOL Good luck Hun

If they are kept in a room and not given time to go outside and potty, and the "potty" is not cleaned up, Then I would say yes.
But if your dog just has "accidents" then I would say no.

best answer I can give with out more info... sorry

Perhaps a fair method for you to verify when you think it's abusive or in anyway valuable can be for you to rub your own nostril in it... I seriously do not fully grasp how it's that we feel it is alright to do things to animals classed beneath "learning" that once we put them within the human standpoint are so surely fallacious. You shouldn't even yell "No" to the dog. Use your brain - it would not recognize any better at this point given that no one has taught it. It can be watching as much as you to consultant it... Would you need anybody screaming at you, hitting you, yanking, shoving while you do what you believe and think to be the correct factor to do? What lesson would you be taught from it...? Me, i am with the puppies; i might study to fear the unpredictable persons. Is that the connection you wish to have along with your canine? If no longer, then how about discovering some wise and tender ways to support your canine be trained to get round in a human world, the place you might be steady and predictable to your canine, and your canine learns to appreciate what you DO like and count on from him/her.

I think it comes under the heading of neglect. Lots of dogs end up homeless for the simple reason the owners didn't take the time or find out how to housebreak their dogs. Dogs who aren't usually end up confined or in a yard, and can't go anywhere because they haven't been trained to have good manners or social skills.

Animal abuse is imposing physical harm to an animal...But on the other hand, its abuse to yourself, cause your animal is creating a mess in your inviorment of your household.
