My daughter fell flat on her face while running in our kitchen. To me her nose looks strange now, slightly distorted. Is it possible to break a nose at this young age?

I appreciate all the responses except for the first response which I find offensive, non-context oriented, and ignorant.
First she fell last week and is not in pain, did not have black eyes and did not bleed which is a good indicator of breakage. Also kids at her age are very resilient and are like rubber. I've heard that at her age it is soft cartilage.
Also I heard the distortion could very well be swelling to one area or another, which is simply pushing the nose out of alignment. She is in no pain and never was but I'll check with my pediatrician to ease my mind. Thank you for the responses.

To the question to me, by distorted I do not mean crooked but slightly bruised.

Of course she can have a broken nose. Take her to the doctor--you might have waited too long and it's already started to heal and your doctor might not be able to set it.

She most definitely COULD have a broken nose. However, from my experience, broken noses are pretty obvious, because there is blood gushing everywhere. It usually looks much worse than it is, but the sight of someone with a broken nose is usually VERY scary. If your little girl didn't bleed, my guess is it's probably not broken.
All the same, she should absolutely be taken to her doctor. She's 20 months old though, she can probably tell you how it feels. Does it hurt when she touches it? Where? The sides? The tip? The bridge (where glasses would rest)? Have her tell you this, and have her tell the doctor too.
Because children have such soft bones (they're growing so fast, always stretching they're not as hard as ours), it is possible for cartilage and bones to bend and not break. They typically straighten out on their own, but not always, so they doctor may have to do something (possibly painful) to help her. But it will beat having plastic surgery for her sweet 16 present, so let him do it!

It is possible...what do you mean by distorted? If it looks crooked then ya might want to have checked out. If it's just a little red or swollen from the fall you could just watch her. My son was running and fell flat on a cement patio. His nose was swollen and bruised on the sides. It was not broken but bruised on the inside. The Dr said a bruise or swollen does not mean a break but crooked may. kids are tougher than we think but when in doubt, just take her just in case. If your Dr is closed today you could go to an Urgent Care

Yes, she can definitely break her nose. If you suspect it's broken then take her to the ER. Is she in pain? Did it bleed? If you're iffy on it and she seems like she feels fine you could call your ped first; they will definitely send you to the ER if you should go. But if you suspect anything don't hesitate to take her down there.

Yes . It is probably what is called a green stick fracture of the nose. It needs medical care.

It's possible to break anything at any age. If you think something's not right, you may want to have her checked out- mom knows best...
