All the above.
I'd guess most of the rude, the hecklers, the pranksters, the shockingly evangelistic naysayers are mostly young folk who haven't enjoyed much success in life, nor done much living at all.
Probably a lot of them came up through 'script-kiddy' university, trying to damage strangers by spreading virus on the web. When that got old, or they got caught, they entered this as a safer form of entertainment.

Don s,
I am leaning more on the ignorant side. Some of the questions I have seen on here can be very hurtful, and a lot just make me sad about the ignorance these people have about our God. In some ways it seems like they have no manners, or just choose not to use them.
If I disagree with something, I sit back, take a breath, and do my best to answer the question without letting my anger taking control. Sometimes it isn't so easy, and I apologize for any answers that I have given that would be deemed "unacceptable", though I don't think that I have given any.
See how easy that is? Please everyone, just act like grown, mature people, then maybe you will get more serious (and kinder) answers.
God bless
~Silverfighter

As a Black woman, I am blown away by the 400% racist comments and questions on this site. I see them whenever I come to Answers. I can lay off for a month and come back and see at least 10 of them in 2 minutes, even if I'm not looking for them. After first trying to ignore the provocation, and then responding politely, even reporting some of these clowns, I think even the Archbishop of Canterbury would be inclined to curse some of these people out. Surprisingly enough, some of them get upset when they are confronted with their racist ideas and then they report the same people to whom they were so offensive. Two wrongs may not make a right but we are only human. I can only imagine what other targeted groups go through on this site. There are only so many times that you can "respectfully disagree". Believe it.

This is the first time I've seen this posted when there weren't a dozen very nasty answers! Congrats, Don! BUT why do some claim they are not rude? I go over questions everyday and the number posted blatantly making fun of God, and Christians is outrageous and you know it's just to provoke anger. Why? Because they can remain anonymous; and yes, Christians, Muslims and everyone else. I honestly try to answer as if they were standing right in front of me. If they were, however, I imagine the first time I'd mouth "I believe this because Jesus said..." they'd be walking away already. Bless Y/A and again, let's really try to respect one another. We really can learn from each other if we want.

It seems in our society the acceptable way to tell someone what you think is to bully them with it, be sarcastic, or try to shame them. I think it is scary that people don't want to respectfully disagree with all different kinds of ideas. They want to push the agenda of those whom it is politically correct to agree with. I don't see why we can't discuss different religion, or politics and say what we believe without trying to change the other person. It shows an amazing amount of closed mindedness to not look at all different ideas, or to allow others to believe what they will. I think that everyone should have the opportunity to say what they believe and not be ridiculed and to also have the opportunity to say they disagree with what has been said and not be hammered into the ground. I don't "shove" my christian religion down any ones throat, but do I hear about it when I say something about what I believe on a subject and I'm not being politically correct. Nevermind I'm answering a question truthfully and simply stating it's what I personally believe, I'm still attacked for disagreeing with the other side. Your right, it's absurd. We should be able to dialog better. You should be able to tell me you don't believe in God, and I should be able to tell you I believe your wrong.

I agree with Depoetic_sbc & Newman. We must remember the average age of a good portion of the reponders here on Y / A is about 13 years of age. Don't you remember how difficult it can be to be that age or younger? Especially if your growing up in some of the "terrible environments" that are out there. These "kids" strike out in any way they can...just pray from them, give them a "thumbs down" and move on.
We cannot..no MUST not allow them to drag us down to their level...just as I am sure that Noah while building that Ark..heard ALOT criticism...yet he stayed focused on the Lord & the task at hand....(and still preached to them) but you know...I bet that Noah's heart truly sorrowed when God closed that mighty door & Noah could hear all those "sarcastic hard-hearted " souls as they were perishing. What a sad day it will be when God finally closes that "door" to "time" itself...and the final day of Salvation is reached. :( How many will be forever lost?! So keep your focus on Jesus...keep responding to these "lost" ones with the love of Christ and prayer...who knows when someone that has a lot of negative in their hearts might suddenly be "touched" by something they read here on this forum! PTL!

Personally, I always laugh whenever I see that we Christians are morons, weak, ignorant, etc. I know that we are going to see that because Jesus said we would. That is not to say that there aren't those days when I see another of those posts, look down for a moment, then take a deep breath and proceed to answer, hopefully in the most direct, respectful way possible.

Don S, we are in the day. We have been since Peter stood and preached Joel chapter 2. The last day began ....that day!
We are just closer, paganism on the rise, yet more and more are turning to Christ the world over. Both becoming more bold in speech. God born us for an appointed time. We who are sanctified and separated are doing our part. These you speak of are sadly doing their part, yet there must be spiritual discernment to know who are in this category and who are only in rebellion awaiting (hopefully) salvation. (their choice)
2Ti 3:1 But understand this, that in the last days there will come times of difficulty.
2Ti 3:2 For people will be (lovers of self,) lovers of money, proud, arrogant, (abusive,) disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy,
2Ti 3:3 heartless, unappeasable, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not loving good,
2Ti 3:4 treacherous, reckless, swollen with conceit, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God,
2Ti 3:5 having the appearance of godliness, but denying its power. Avoid such people.
Rev 22:11 Let the evildoer still do evil, and the filthy still be filthy, and the righteous still do right, and the holy still be holy."

It's the nature of the forum, people can do things on here and not face any retribution. It makes them feel good to get away with some small childish prank. And some maybe immature some are just plain rude or they love to hate and can freely express it here. If you complain it gives them more reason to heckle you. If you refuse to respond in the way that seems complaining it will continue. Always respond in the way Christ would, with love, it will blow their mind away and help them release the hate.

UR right! It is a problem. I wish there were a way that this site could screen those type of people and their meaningless answers.
What is more annoying then nasty responses is how some people come off trying to act like they know what they are talking about, and very obviously they have no clue what they are talking about.
I think our best defense is to totally ignore them, and vote a thumbs down on them.

Darlin' - remember that Y!A's youngest age to be a participant is 13 years old.
Then remember that abused people often only know negative attention... and many who cruise this site are lonely and desiring attention...
Just ignore the detractors, precious one. Hit the thumbs down to remove the ugly note from your sight and move on... praying for Jesus to touch them in that moment.
Consider this medium a means to strengthen and practice your wittness for your real life interactions. Speak peace, love, grace and acceptance of the people you encounter - and remember that you are the only example of Jesus some will ever see - here or in real life.
Forgive those who mock and seek to thwart you, dear one.
God will handle them.
Peace.
