JR, this is in response to one of the answers I saw on another question. someone was pretty bitter about being blocked from answering someone else's questions. Couldn't resist pointing out the similarity.

I would ahve to disagree that there's truth at the Hall. But then you knew I would.

HypnoPope, the "Hall" is where Jehovah's Witnesses go to worship. they don't call it a church. it's a "kingdom Hall"

2007-09-08 03:05:09 · update #2

batgirl, JR tells you no one is shunned at the Hall. Yes they are.

2007-09-08 03:07:43 · update #3

Seriously, I'm not a JW. But yeah, I get your drift.

JR, you know anyone can attend your church gatherings "meetings" if you will. You might want to go ask your elders about that, because you are wrong. I was involved over 20 years and watched lots of your shunned, disfellowshipped people grovelling their way back into your "Truth"

2007-09-08 03:13:12 · update #7

JR, stop it. I give you an assignment to go up and talk to a disfellowshipped person who's at one of your meetings. Can you do it? I was "counselled" for doing so when I was younger.. that is what shunning is. Not talking to a disfellwoshipped person, even if they're attending meetings.

Interesting observation:...I see a lot of answers, and I rarely see an ex Jw tell anything but the truth.....Witnesses have NO idea What goes on in a committee meeting, unless they have had one.

There is a lot that goes on behind the scenes, that you just do not understand...I wouldn't have believed it myself if I had not experienced it myself.......I asked to be disassociated.

Is anyone even sure JR is a JW? I don't think he knows what he is talking about. I was disfellowshipped after several meetings with the elders including the PO. I was VERY, VERY REPENTANT. Do you think that mattered? Nope! The PO told me "I'll tell you when I think you are repentant but most likely it will be approximately 1-2 years from now". How arrogant!

Couldn't help but notice how much it ticked them off to be blocked. And that's just from questions on YA!, now imagine being "blocked" from your entire family, the only friends you've had in your life and in my case half of the small town I live in. People who have been lucky enough to not be involved with JW have no idea what you go through. I still feel as though I am being deprogrammed.

JR: Sometimes, one can't help but think about what a JWs response will be to something. Their logic is so twisted, it's actually entertaining to watch those mental gears grind.

You contradict yourself. You say no one is shunned at the hall. Then you say shunned members aren't allowed at the hall (which is shunning). Then, you say you are allowed to come back. Which is it already? Can't you guys even get your stories straight anymore?

The fact is, yes, you can come back if you are repentant, but you will still be shunned when you come back--for at least a year, while you attempt to work your way back into the elder's good graces. In the meantime, you are ignored and treated as though you aren't even there. If you don't call that shunning, then what is it?

Disfellowshipping, by definition, implies that a person's fellowship is broken off by the group they once enjoyed fellowship with. That is the exact definition of shunning.

Stop contradicting yourself and take the time to compose a post that makes sense somewhere on the planet.

From what do you draw this claim?

For those who questioned, she is referring to the worship buildings of Jehovah's Witnesses, which are all seemed to be named Kingdom's Hall.

If my church banned me, I would not only question their theology, but decide I was better off without them.

Do you wake up and goto sleep thinking about Jehovah Witnesses?

batgirl2good
No one is shunned at the Hall.

Vegan_Treehugg
No one is banned. If you're repentant, you're allow to come back. Paul had people disfellowshipped members of the Congregation, yet people think its wrong if the Jehovah Witnesses do it. Doesn't make sense.

Pedi C
Blocking is a act of ignoring someone. If someone chooses to do it, then its based on their own opinion on how they feel about someone. Its a personal choice. You're just always trying to find a way to attack a Witness..

If you don't agree with things such as disfellowshipping, then you don't agree with the Bible.

Pedi C
You cannot get shunned at the Hall because "shunned" memebers aren't even allowed at the Hall.

Pedi C
You just said people are shunned at the Hall, which means some people ignore each other when they attend meetings. That is not true. The Bible tells us to to shun those who left the faith, and thats what we do, and this takes place outside the Halls, not inside.

simon61161
I'm not contradicting my self, because you fail to comprehend what I'm trying to telling you.

1 - I said shunned members aren't allowed at the Hall.

2 - Those who are shunned are considered
apostates/DF members of the congregation. If they are DF or an Apostate, then they aren't allowed in the congregation.

3 - If they are repentant, they are allowed back. When they come back, they aren't shunned, but you cannot associate with them outside the meetings until they show they are obedient.

I made my self pretty clear, but you choose not to listen.

Pedi C
I talked to two people who have been df and been brought back into the congregation. But, I didnt associate with them.

no it isn't the same... I KNOW from firsthand experience.

at the Kingdom Halls, there is Truth.

On Y/A, very little truth is to be found.

the Jehovah's Witnesses disfellowship only baptized members who have shown unwillingness to repent of a particular sin which is a disfellowshipping offense. it is Scripturally based, and it is what Christians are supposed to do. i am a disfellowshipped Christian, and until i quit using tobacco, i am not showing God that i value life. After all, Jesus would never have smoked cigarettes.

my co-worker could not be in her grand mothers life
because the jw prohibted it.
my co-worker's mom married a christian minister and they were all free spirited christians full of love and life that they were not allowed to share with their Grand ma

so the lady was not allowed to be in their life, for fear
of being shunned by j/w it was a mighty tug of war with her feelings
she could never see her grand children for b-days or holidays. she was very old at the time I knew her.

she was obiedient to jw rules or she could be shunned, it was threat over her head she talked about it that way to us. I was sad for her when I visited her I wanted to
hear it for myself
they were strict with her because they knew her daughter was a born again christian and married to a christian and raising her grandchildren as christians
what were the j/w afraid of ? if they love Jesus too

I dont know; but when the little lady died there was no furneral services, no celebration of her life here on earth. it was a sad life of separation from her daughter her only child.

the j/w controlled her mind body and spirit>

If you know a j/w or are one.... could you say that its not true about being shunned or demoted or oppressed by j/w rules.
Are you happy and full of joy,?
when you come to my door could you smile? and be full of laughter because your in love with Jesus ?
or do you have a stern face because you are concerned for the lost?
feel free to email me.>jen

I'm a atheist, and I disagree. This is a open forum, and a public place. I come here of my own volition, and they have as much right to spout their nonsense as I have to spout mine. My home is a private place.
