OTC dewormers aren't effective, are a waste of money and can be dangerous...get the appropriate dewormer from your vet.
You say you found white worms..were they long spaghetti like or short rice like? If rice like they are tapeworms and don't show up in fecal tests as a rule.
I'm assuming since the vet said they were "clean" that you had a fecal test done since with the exception of tapes this is the only way to know for sure if your dog has worms or not and what type. Also did your vet deworm your puppy?? if so then you will see worms in the stool in many cases for a few days after depending on how infested they were.

What kind of worms are you seeing? Are they about 3-4 inches long? If so, this would be round, but your vet should have seen this on a fecal.
They have wormers at the pet store that will take care of round worms. The ingredient to look for is Pyrantel Pamoate.
Are you seeing 1-2 inch worms that wiggle and dry up to the size of a grain of rice? If so, the vet might or might not be able to see these on a fecal. These would be tape worm. The pet stores have a different medicine for these worms. It is called Pranziquantel. Pyrantel cannot kill tape.

I recommend you go back to the vet with the fecal material with the worms in it. Show it to the vet and ask them to identify it. Then they should be able to give you the right medicine. Since they messed up, there should be very little charge if any at all. Good luck to you.

Sounds like tape worms. Call the vet and take in a fresh sample of poo.

You should make sure what kind of worm it is. Follow him/her around and get a sample. Take that to the vets office. They can tell you the type of worm. Then head to Target, Pets Mart, and get what it needs.

i would suggest that you will give your dog an "allwormer" medicine, which can kill all worms except heartworms. you can give her or him "proxantel" or "cannex" tablet.
please visit your vet for the proper dosage of the medicine. if you have no enough money to go to vet, you can self medicate your dog, provided you should follow the instruction very carefully.
usually the dose begins at 2 weeks-1st dose 4 weeks-2nd, 8 weeks-3rd dose, and 12 weeks last doses then every 3 months afterwards.

My uncle would give his dogs a bit of Skoal chewing tobacco to keep worms away. But, Heart Guard is the med of choice these days. It costs a lot more money, though, than Skoal.
